COD 4 Mouse

Dont expect miracles from changing mouse, your only as good as your natural ability and the time you put in.... simple as that.

no most of the tweeks are to the fps, there is one that turns off decals which PB does not allow but most of them are just about getting better performance.

example I run all my graphic down low. looks horrible but I get a solid 125fps all the time

Time for an upgrade? :D

i have the logitech G9 its a bit pricey but imo its well worth it fantastic mouse

I bought the G9 mouse today and my COD4 accuracy has improved in the first couple of games I have just played :D. One problem though is I downloaded the setpoint software off the Logitech website for 32bit xp and when I install the app there is nothing at all in the programfiles\logitech folder, the installer does not even make the folder even though it is set to use this default folder on my c drive ? Any ideas on why this is happening ? I have downloaded the G9 software twice to make sure I have got the right program.

sorry cant help you, i installed setpoint from the disk on my laptop 32bit vista and on my pc 64bit vista and had no problems

whatever you dont get the G7, the batterys have 'periods' :) took me ages getting used to it from my mx500 mind, kinda miss that thing still.. was really worn and needed replacing though, and id already had 2 warranty replacements .. ;) Annoying thing about G7 is the battery warning popup, lowest you can set alert to is 5%, so as soon as its 5% it starts warning you.. why not just warn at 1% :(??!

My G9 did not come with any install cd and just gave directions to the Logitech website. I have turned off my antivirus and firewall just to see if they where stopping the install for some reason but this did nothing. Mouse is working fine but it would be nice to get the setpoint software working !

Ps I am using a Shuttle sn25p if that gives anyone any ideas

The difference between 40-50-60 fps to 125fps is quite large

With a constant 125fps, you don't miss a thing - You 'see' a lot more.

If your in a match and a large firefight breaks out your FPS MATTERS, it might drop to 30 and you will no doubt lose.

My CoD4 config has all the fancy crap turned off that isn't really needed at gives me about a 50fps boost

The physics for example, i can't shoot water melons or bricks - I never really did anyway.

/r_decals 0 is NOT banned by PB, some PB configs need it to be 1 but most dont. Decals 0 gives you a good 10-15fps boost.

A tip to cod4 gamers: Texture level won't really affect your FPS, physics, shadows and lights will.

I have shadows on, you can see the enemy before they see you in some cases.

That is strange. I downloaded mine as well and it installed fine to
C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint II

If I can find it, I can try making an iso of the disc for you if you want.

Thanks for that mate anything is worth a try. I have let the installer set its own install path and even directed it to a folder that I made on the c drive and nothing happens at all even though it says the install is complete ? I have followed all the tips on the Logitech website like swtiching firewall off etc and also doing a bare minimum startup and still nothing. If you could upload a iso to the web for me then that would be a great help.

Thanks

What's the command/s to do this then, I've got pretty much everything else disabled apart from the physics stuff.

Don't know it off the top of my head sorry

I'll take a look a my cfg when i get chance n give you a shout on xfire.

haha i put a post similar about fps other day and cod 4 it makes huge difference.i can run a lot higher than i run it at now but i want constant 125.i turn off most things which some dissagree with and my mate was joking it looked like a spectrum other day :D but they dont laugh when your butchering them.mice do make a big difference if you coming from a basic one.in uo it doubled my score in matter of weeks.

Hmm never really thought of the frames per second performance . I am running a oldish ati x800 gto2 with a amd 4200 dual core 939 cpu. Dont tell me a upgrade is required lol !

ps is there anyway of checking the fps that my system returns on cod4 ?

Try this:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/

It can display your fps as an overlay in the top right (like fraps) and allows you to overclock and tweak your card. I have two profiles, one for general desktop use (which is actually an underclock to keep things nice and cool at low fan speeds) and a gaming profile with an overclock ;)

To the OP, don't expect miracles from a new mouse. It might make a slight difference but so would drinking a strong coffee before you play. Saying that I love my razer copperhead and would never go back to a standard mouse!

Also as has been said, unless you have a crt there's not much point getting the fps to 125.

Sorry man, I just checked and the disc mine came with was just the user manual. I hadn't even looked at it as I always just download the newest drivers anyway.

That's really strange that it won't install. I have no clue what to suggest.

My main question is will the g9 perform to the best of its ability without the setpoint software ? I want it to be at its best in COD4 so if it is fine without the setpoint stuff then I can live without it I guess.
