iirc the Interactive Achievement Award's GOY is considered the "offical" one.

Although every magazine runs their own.

Can't say I've heard of this IAA before today although I've followed gaming scene for over 20 years now. Ok, of course I have heard of them, most notably their hall of fame but IAA is really not well known at all. I guess they can call themself the official though for reasons mentioned in Wikipedia.

Plus most gamers heavily disagree with their choices. Gears of War GOTY 2007? Heh
