COD MW3: Won’t Support Dedicated Servers

I hope it supports dedicated servers because I will certainly not pay the launch price for a game that could be ransacked by cheaters on a peer to peer game. At least with dedicated servers, there is more control. Bad move if true.

this is possibly a hoax and a big debate going on about it on steam ;)

so all haters have a kitkat till its known fact :p

my take on it is they are not sure probably going to do a deal or not do a deal with a server company and working out the sales figures over server costs and so on.

which ever generates most profit will prolly happen

As usual, I agree with DG. CoD is driven almost entirely by money now.

They should just mix both so we have the choice to have lets say 4-5 friends go into a lobby and match with other players. Just instead of it then picking a host it puts you in a dedicated server.

Others can use a server list :)

If it's this then I hope it picks a server that is in the same country as yourself.

Wish I could filter out foreign lands in Black Ops like Australia and America.

It sounds as if the source in the original article was talking about the console version of the game.

Here's a very recent quote from Robert Bowling

"I'd love to give you a firm answer on dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 3 but at this time we have not finalized multiplayer enough on any platform to make such confirmations. At this time, it remains undetermined but I hope to have an answer for our PC fans as soon as possible and long before our release date so that they can make an informed decision on MW3.
I will say that we have already debunked much of that article. I encourage fans not to get too focused on speculation and wait for official confirmation."

So, we still don't know.

Hmmm, Robert Bowling has said ''We have not announced whether Dedicated Servers are or are not in #MW3''.

We probably wont know for sure until pretty much launch date, wasnt it like two weeks before MW2 they dropped the IWNET bomb shell aswell?

On this plus side one man army and commando have been removed acording to his twitter feed.

o that's a "there wont be dedi's, but hey as logn as we don't deny it we're not guilty of misrepresenting the product. and hey we'll tell you i a 1 sentence twitter update 2 weeks before release so you'll all be "informed" .

MW2 had a pirated version which was obviously free and supported dedicated servers. Guessing the same will happen with MW3.
If BF3 wasn't coming out I might have actually looked into it. Ah well, IW may as well just stop making their games on PC. People will catch on eventually.

That's a shame :(

But really, it doesn't bother me. I doubt ill be buying. I've not fully enjoyed a COD game since COD2. WaW was alright . MW1 was alright too but I didn't complete it and so I didn't buy MW2. Had a punt at Black Ops and was sadly disappointed.

What does Activision have to lose in providing dedi servers, from what I know it does not cost them a penny and they don't even provide them they just allow it.

Same old like in every COD thread.

"lol @ COD"
"COD for noobs"
"BF3 preordered"
"MW1 was the best, anything after is crap"
"Will not be buying this"
etc

About 80% of COD posts are not even on topic.
