CoD, ten years on.

One of my most memorable gaming moments is from the CoD expansion. Can't remember the specific level but you're defending a rather destroyed French (I think) chateau. Infantry coming in from all over the place from the fields surrounding it so you're running from one side to the other and back again to try and hold it, then armour rolls in so you're on anti-tank duties, trying to dispatch one before another gets too close on the other side of the building. Your squad shouting from all over the place that they've got infantry and armour getting through and are about to be overwhelmed, orchestral score ramping up, in the end I think I just stopped moving, thinking to myself "We're all screwed", right before some friendly air support arrives to drop some bombs and take out the tanks.

Such a shame that they've degenerated the series into what it is now.

I loved COD 1, was 15 at the time and all i did all day was play MP lol was pretty good as well :)

cod modern warfare was im my opinion the game that launched true online multiplayer on the xbox

not only that but the game was awesome when they decided to get rid of the 2 main developers and ban them from making any action games for 5 years then the modern warfare series went downhill and the treyarch version never seemed to really get close to the infinity ward ones

thats why i cant wait until titanfall release made by the original guys who made mw and the videos of it so far look like its not going to dissapoint

Doesn't help that the netcode in most modern FPS games is horrible for single shot rifles.

Yeah :( I tried a few combinations in BF4 beta to try and emulate the old bolt action rifle but it was beyond a joke trying to get any kind of reliable hit registry.

People can laugh at COD all they want but atleast you generally hit what your aiming at and the fundamental gameplay mechanics are fluid and non-intrusive (ignoring black ops which doesn't count).

Ah the days of COD1. Used to play Drinking CoD with my housemates, was quite a blast! :D

Shame every COD since COD4 haven't really pushed the boat out and just stayed the same, exception being World at War, as that was just bringing WW2 to the newer engine. Since WaW though I fast lost interest and after Black Ops 1 I stopped buying them, should have stopped after World at War really... :(
