Hi all,

Well i bought COD2 (before this played the demo flawless) I've gone to install it today everything seemed fine, i go to load the game i get the splash screen COD2 , it goes to load at which i get a black screen then it goes to desktop :(

un installed 3x reinstalled 3x
Vice versa for installed
+ Patched to 1.3

Also done an uninstall manually via registry then reinstalled again + Patched to 1.3


I've updated my gfx drivers

& I've tried installing via Steam also but it hates the key.

a tad miffed really.
 
Have you tried running it in Safe Mode?

I had a problem whereby the game would crash when set to DX9 mode (the demo worked fine in DX9). In DX7 mode the full game worked fine.
 
I re-installed this the other day and had a few problems.

dont install from the splash sceen (i presume this is the screen when you insert the disc and it says install, remove etc..) just go into my computer>right click on disc and open>then choose setup .... it doesnt go into the splash screen then and goes straight into the install.
 
i never use the startup splash screen to install my games , always via explore and via the startup.exe,

it's baffled me to hell, lucky it was only 9.99 :P
 
it could be the key you have tried to use. stopping the game from running...

try a different one. talk on msn.

what drivers are you running? and whats your rig? because i had a similar problem with dark messiah might and magic once, just closed back to desktop on starup of the game. had to manualy adjust the screen res in the settings.ini. really odd problem, but it could be worth a shot.

go to that directory (unless youve mapped it to a dif drive) then open config, very jibberish aye, but ive just found the setting for it.

r_mode "2048x1536" EDIT: might want to type in 1920x1200 if your on a 24" then, see if that helps.

search for that, thats my res, change yours to something like "800x600" to get it started, see if thats the probem.

r_rendererPreference "dx9"

thats the dx mode selection, a quid and easy way to find all this in the config file (it has no layout format, so it looks all over the place) is to copy and paste the lot into word or something and do control - f, to find it :D

Okay C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\

But there isn't a Players dir :( or any configs
 
its defo not C2D , not looked at the activision forums as of yet, think im just going to leave it , I've tried everything under the sun.
 
Have you tried starting it without running the movies at the beginning? Could be a problem with either your audio or video codec and those movies. Add "+set com_introplayed 1" without quotes to the end of the target line in the shortcut.
 
Just tried that , and still the same , ive given up on it tbh , going buy it from steam
