COD4 MW2 MAX PLAYER COUNT 8V8

its a joke, what the hell are they doing, makes me sick.

But anyway, it doesn't matter if you like 8v8 or 32v32 the fact is before you had a choice of server size now they have taken away that.

Give us a choice how we play the game, big server-small server, auto match join-manual join.

God only knows whats coming next for us PC users.

They might aswell add in the technology for pc and xbox users to play against each other as its the same game now, man i'd love to destroy them all with k/b&m lol

I was going to get this for the PC but will get it on the PS3 now I think.

I'm not sure what the thinking was behind this, it's costing them money to implement it when the vast majority don't want it. Why buck a very popular trend? Gamers choose PC for the dedicated servers and the customisation etc.

Unfortunately the sad truth is that IW will make 90% of their money on this game via consoles though so there is no real loser other than the PC buyer.

Why?

That makes no sense to me, the main issue people have is the MP has been 'dumbed down' to a level equivalent to consoles but at the end of the day, it's still basically the same game as consoles, except with better graphics and proper M/KB support, so i'm at a loss as to why if this puts you off the PC version, you'd still get the PS3 version (which costs more).

I can't see the logic there.

I admit to liking cod4 more the 360 multiplayer when it first came out, i borrowed a copy to see what its like on the pc this year after upgrading, i hated all the hardcore servers and the large ones are pointless but i was going to buy mw2 for the pc anyway as we at least have choice and i didn't have to pay microsoft for the privilege to host games on my own connection with the 360, seems this is now the pc's fate only it makes no sense at all, options are good, artificial restrictions are bad, so they won't get any money from me until this is changed and even then ill wait for the price to come down first.

There's just no justifying it, its pathetic!

Basically because that's where my friends will be playing. You weren't to know that though, I see your point.

Why are you defending this?

I'm not. I am just considering the "why" rather than inventing some sort of strange conspiracy.

It may sell better which is a reasonable excuse for IW to go down the p2p route if they have lost all respect for the PC community, but the quality of the game is severely reduced for the gamer.

How have they lost all respect for the PC community? Because they aren't focusing their game on a subset of the gaming community?

IW reduce the quality of our gaming experience and make more cash out of it, a round of applause for IW please.

Go figure, a company interested in making money, who would have thought.

Also, we used to have a choice. If you liked 8v8 then play 8v8. My sweet spot was 12v12. If people like 32man servers then let them have it. There were better ways to go about this, just removing dedicated servers was not it. People may buy into the "making the game easier and more accessible to gamers" stuff, but all this has done for me is reduce my options and created a highly inferior experience.

Unfortunately it isn't about you, it is about their target audience. You may no longer figure in as an important part of it.

to be honest they may as well have made it 1000v1000 because only minute a % of people in the uk will be able to host anything more than 4v4 without it lagging like a beast.

Really got to wonder what's going at infinity ward if they think they can make these changes and still sell anywhere near the amount they did with CoD4.

Well, if we are to assume that the large petition is the extent of people who are going to abstain (we'll also assume the number of double signers will balance the number of non signers), then so far this whole boycott looks set to lose them about 2.5% of the sales they achieved with COD4 on PC, again, assuming sales remained the same etc.

It's not exactly going to be the huge financially crippling blow to IW some seem to think it will be IMO.

In fact, if anything, it just reinforces the idea that perhaps despite how much commotion 145,000 people can cause, they are still in fact a rather small minority of IWs target audience.

Yes, we all think it's a conspriacy. Who said that? There are the facts here and we don't like them.

How have they lost all respect for the PC community? Because they aren't focusing their game on a subset of the gaming community?

Just look at some of their replies from staff members. "We aren't forgetting our roots, we're using Weed Killer on them." from their PR department.

Yep, and considering the number of cancelled orders because of their recent "marketting" decisions they are doing well.

So if we're not the target audience then then have a really strange idea of what the target audience should be considering we are mostly people who would have definately bought the game and now we're not.

I'd go back to the console forum if I were you if you still don't understand after these points. :(

The thing is though, this game will probably still be a massive seller, there is a good chance over all platforms it will sell more than CoD4. My girlfriend works part time at a games retailer and pre-orders for the game are almost double that of CoD4 two years ago. Obviously on the PC if people keep to their word regarding the boycott it will sell less.
