COD4 MW2 MAX PLAYER COUNT 8V8

The thing is though, this game will probably still be a massive seller, there is a good chance over all platforms it will sell more than CoD4. My girlfriend works part time at a games retailer and pre-orders for the game are almost double that of CoD4 two years ago. Obviously on the PC if people keep to their word regarding the boycott it will sell less.

And yet we have heard of a game store having over 2.5k pc pre-orders cancelled.

Being honest, the best games are 5v5, but thats for clan matches.. public should have nice big servers

yes but who wants to play scrim like matches allday.

i play loads of mixes but not 24/7.

big servers are more fun and i often frequent the big ol 50 man spam servers cause its more fun :D

what i do know is now they have messed this upalot of modders are switching to cod waw and 4 and making all there new mods

theres a new star wars mods in a few weeks.theres a classic new base asault being done on waw which looks good and the ol uo school should love it.

youll probably get the modders port over the maps to cod 4 and 5 aswell so :p

If anybody here thinks that this game will suffer due to the reduced game sizes then they are going to be sadly mistaken. Nobody here can say that this game won't sell MILLIONS.

i own pc version of COD 4 and after struggling to find a server that plays my favourite game mode (hardcore team deathmatch) the game is already 50% completed and to make things worse there is at least 1 hacker in every server i visit, and what makes things even worse is that 60% of the people in every server pirated the game so they dont even care about getting caught cheating, therefore they dont care if punkbuster actually manages to catch them (pb sucks) they can go download a keygen and there back online.

It might just be me but I have a strong suspicion that is not in actual fact anyone from IW's PR department posting under that account anymore.

Considering they sold over 5 million copies of COD4 on PC, 2500 cancelled pre orders isn't really that much of a dent in sales is it? Especially if half of them just buy it anyway a month later when all their non boycotting mates are banging on about how awesome it is.

fourzerotwo.com is the website of 402, aka Robert Bowling, who is the "Creative Strategist/PR Person" for IW

The PC version of COD6 will sell less than PC version of COD4, thus making it a failure really

You don't know that, what if the new method of online play appeals to way more casual gamers and it actually improves sales overall?

Who else would be posting comments on his own website under his own name?
Father Christmas? Jesus? Batman?

Someone who had hacked his account or his website?

It's not exactly impossible to do.

You're telling me you honestly think Robert Bowling is posting comments like:

I know some people get a bit lazy when writing online but i'd have thought someone so prolifically involved in a companies PR role could maintain basic use of capital letters and know the difference between their, they're and there.

Use your head, that's not Robert Bowling posting those comments, someone has compromised his website.

I doubt it, that was posted a while ago and site would have been turned off by now if it really was compromised.

Unfortunately it isn't about you, it is about their target audience. You may no longer figure in as an important part of it.

You don't understand the term as your target audience is whatever platform you release the game for.

The main audience is the Consoles & there is no point in making one of the main strengths of having a PC version null & void as the majority of the PC gamers will buy it for the dedicated servers.

No point in making a cup of tea for me when you already know that i only like coffee.

I can't believe you honestly think that's Robert Bowling posting comments like that.

Ordinarily, with logic like that I would agree with you, but remember this is the guy who thinks getting rid of dedicated servers is a great thing for the PC community (we have him on audio saying that).

He's totally capable of butchering the English language just like he did with my plans on weathering the coming winter nights!

they wont though.
the majority is the average consumer.

I'm not. I am just considering the "why" rather than inventing some sort of strange conspiracy.
A conspiracy? I think someone is projecting.

How have they lost all respect for the PC community? Because they aren't focusing their game on a subset of the gaming community?
Dedicated servers is an integral part of the PC community. Nobody has ever been that concerned about the future mechanics of online PC games because the idea that a dev might remove dedicated servers was completely absurd. I respect that IW are trying to make things easier for those that don't understand/care, but they should have taken care of the enormous amount of gamers that do care. Whether you like it or not, there is a substantial amount of us that do care, why are we being treated like this? They should have catered for both crowds.

Go figure, a company interested in making money, who would have thought.
Don't do that, you know full well that isn't the point I'm making (I hope anyway). This isn't a conspiracy, I'm not anti capitalism. Some developers are interested in maximising profits by using whatever means they can get away with. Some developers still understand that the quality of the experience is more important, see the response from Dice on this issue. Squeezing every last penny out of the product regardless of the users experience just smacks of a dev that has lost touch with an important sector of their audience.

A long term Call of Duty fan with many previous purchases and thousands of hours of play time over the years and I'm no longer part of the equation? I guess I don't matter anymore, I'm only the demographic that brought CoD to where it is today.
