COD4 res problem

I changed my res to a mode my monitor cant support by accident.

Id these anyway I can change it back with a console command or a way to start the game in safe mode or something so I can get it back again?

COD4\players\profiles\'your name' and the config.cfg has an entry in it seta r_mode "your res" just change it to a working res

having trouble finding that, do you mean in the game folder?

C:/program files/activision/cod4/ etc?

Cant find it in there, maybe im bein stupid.

C:\program files\activision\cod4\players\profiles\your profile there are files in that folder one of which is config.cfg and if you open it with notepad and search {ctrl +f } for the resolution it currently is now , you will find the entry and be able to change it to a working res.

For me its:

C:\Games\call of duty 4\players\profiles\para\config.cfg

So, yes if you installed to the default DIR, then C:\Program Files\Activision\...

OK, I looked and I dont have a players or profile folder

In C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare

All I have is

Docs
zone
miles
main
Mods
pb

And some other files like the exe and some .dll's

No set res command I can blindly type into the console?

how are you going to get to the games console if you cant get into the game with your res being screwed?


you must have a player profile as this is what you do upon first loading the game is set up a profile.

Browse though C:\Users

I'm on vista 64bit with uac turned on and mine is stored in

C:\Users\michael\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\Lunix

I managed to do it already though using another monitor that supported the res I set.
