GTO said:I guess this thread is now finished but I have a question on a similar vein.
I have an MP4 video which plays fine in Media Player 11 but when I try to convert it to DVD with WinAVI it says the file is broken or the codec is missing.
I installed an MP4 codec but then it wouldn't play at all so I had to do a restore.
Any thoughts?
bledd. said:dont install klite, its a pile of pants
ffdshow or cccp
regulus said:just curious here, but why do people keep saying K-Lite is so bad?
Energize said:Because due to incompetence they didn't setup their pc properly and something went wrong so they blamed it on the codec pack. Or they haven't even used one but because someone said it messed their machine up they take their word for it and tell everyone else it screws their machine up which isn't true. Or they are using a 50mb hard drive and they consider that it takes up too much space.

All codec packs are pants. You've not seen many complaints because you've not looked...
We'll ignore the fact that half the stuff in the K-lite pack is totally illegal.![]()
Real Alternative
Quicktime Alternative
XviD
H264
FFDShow if there's anything not working after that.
Why the hell the K-Lite pack contains FFDShow on top of the codecs is beyond me... it does the same.... :\
squiffy said:Like you said, FFDSHOW plays Divx & Xvid, so why install Divx and Xvid codecs as well? I have a HTPC so play a lot of video and music files, I only need FFDSHOW and Theatretek.
