With very little known about this title yet, I thought with the season about to begin this could be a good thread for news on the game.

I understand their are quite a few F1 fans on these forums as well.

Formula One 2010
Xbox 360
Playstation 3
PC

Expected Mid 2010

Announcement Due March 17th
Three days after the 2010 F1 season starts Codemasters are to give details on the title.

Awesome :) I just hope that its not out of date by the time it comes out tbh its also hard for the 360 / PS3 to combat the PC as it has too many good simulators with F1 capabilities etc

Just hope that the PS3 version is s step up from
Formula One Championship Edition

I'm not convinced this will be any good. I do hope I'm proved wrong though as I'm after a game that was like the old F1 game on the PS1. :D

The fact that codemasters are doing this sends chills down my spine in all honesty...i just hope they make it a sim rather than an arcade version. Something along the lines of FM3 would be a good start.

Saying that ive been itching for an F1 game on the 360...just hope codies dont make a complete **** up of this.

I wouldnt say Codies recent track trecord has been that bad and if anything they offer some of the best graphics going. They have also improved with every recent release and whilst I do not believe this is going to or indeed is meant to offer the simulation depth of F1 like PC specialist titles I do believe it should capture the speed and excitment of F1 with challenging gameplay.

Dirt / Race Driver / Grid / Dirt 2 /

These all improved so it looks promising.
My own biggest concern is in the AI ability to offer a good race and if they can make the season interesting within the game.

Racing game AI is never great, so I would discount real-world tactics, pit-stops and overtaking manoeuvres etc. straight away.

As long as it faithfully recreates the F1 look/feel and environments, and has decent handling I will be happy.

I think it may be very difficult for them to have (whatever number of cars do make the 2010 season) all in a race and keep a 60 fps, what you guys reckon?

Its likely the game will be a 720p based game and maybe with 26 cars if thats the official number but I think this then means a 30 fps title. I can live with that as PGR 3 or SHIFT amongst other games can still be great to play yet limited to 30fps.

I dont know myself but does anyone here actually know of a X360 or PS3 game that manages 26 cars even in singleplayer?

For multiplayer I doubt it will offer more than previous games in races. Perhaps a limit of 12-16 for online is also likely due to restrictions with Live. Codies however can put to good usage of thier lighting /shader technology used in Dirt 2 for the night races.

I was being sarcastic about the 25 player online races, I would be very surprised if Codemasters of all people could pull off that amount of players online at once. It would be a nightmare.

I can't wait for this, I have an illogical need to buy F1 games whether they're good or not :D
I do hope they've come up with a half-decent AI system though, as in previous games off the start line you could overtake practically the whole field into the first corner as they all processionally followed the racing line!

I want to see an AI car take a Schumacher-esque swipe at me off the line :p

I really really really hope they pull this off. I love F1, and I love Codemasters as game developers. That said, their recent efforts, while good, haven't been up to what I would expect from an F1 game.

Hell actually I suppose I'm just glad someone else finally gets a crack at F1!

I would've just given the license to Turn10 or another company capable of making proper sims. Codemasters games from the past 4 or 5 years have made all efforts to be fun yet very arcadey. Slightly off topic but I think Dirt2 shouldn't even have Colin McRae's name on it, he was an excellent rally driver and this game just ****es over his memory in all fairness.

Not related to the game but Eddie Jordan has told BBC...

"My understanding is that they (Stefan GP) will be in Bahrain with ex-Champion Jacques Villeneuve driving."
This comes after speculation that the "USA F1" team will miss the entire year giving Stefan a possible entry now.

Damn even if they dont stand much chance of being competitive to have a season with 5 previous/current World Champions will be awesome.
Has to help benifit the game and sales/interest of F1 in general.

I dont recall a season like this offering so much even from watching it for 20 years.

:)

I think it's gonna be really open this year, I always liked Jacques Villeneuve but I thought he was only really competitive when he had the best car. Can't wait to see how Schumacher does, I think everyone is holding their breath for him!
