Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

I got an official MS wheel at the weekend, man it makes this game so much better, I'm pretty terrible anyway but cornering is so much easier and fluid.
 
Loving Melbourne although I appear to be way off the pace. Qualified 20th, although outqualified Trulli again. The Lotus doesn't seem to have fun round Oz.

Think I have the difficulty balance quite nicely set now, legendary AI with tyre/fuel sim, ABS, auto and medium TC.
 
Had an interesting race at China last night. Second season, still with toro rosso and went though practice and each session I was picking up the pace, came to qualify and I did really well and stuck the car 6th on the grid… Result, but come race day it was raining like hell, but I decided to chance it on inters. Visibility was near zero.

At the start, I thought I’d made a mistake I got bogged down off the line and two cars, Hamilton and Schumacher screamed past me and I couldn’t see the cars in front yet alone the track for spray – but managed to spot the rear red flashing light of Hamilton, so into the first sweeping corner I made up four places as they were clearly struggling for grip, so was I… But I got the outside line and made it stick – no idea how… Car was twitching like hell.

Anyhow, followed button and watched Alonso stuff his race up and by the third lap I was in 5th, Kubica was in front of Button but the red bulls were gone.

This was how the race remained until race engineer said dry line appearing we should pit, but I noticed button and kubica were pitting, so had Vettel and I shot past them and vettel emerged from the pit exit just as I went around the corner, he’d made up enough time for nearly a full pit stop in front of me, however it wasn’t enough, I knew then that Webber would pit, but I was pulling away from Vettel.. I took the chance, as webber pitted I stayed out, and remained out until the last four laps my inters were gone, I was losing 8 – 10 seconds per lap, one lap from the end I went off and lost the lead nearly… Webber caught up really quickly and just as he passed me, I lost the lead but I was brave and decided to out brake at the second to last corner and made it..!! lol took the lead and managed to tip toe the car around the last corner and took a win.. My first for this season… amazing race, only because I stayed out….

Yeah, use a flashback to overcome it. Set the flashbacks to max you can for the level you are playing..

whenever I get a puncture that I feel its a bit unfair I flashback and then the puncture doesn't reappear...

If I run wide and hit the apex too hard or scrub a wall or something and the car gets a puncture, well maybe my own fault.. But not when I've exited the pits and got half way around the track... That happens far too many times for my liking..

I had completely forgotton about flashbacks (what a nubby mistake!).
How do I use them? The game is on PC but I am using a 360 pad.

Press the X button I think... Its the blue button on a 360 pad. Pause the game, view a replay and you have 2 - 4 flashbacks depending on how many you set when you set up the difficulty settings...

Life saving feature with a game that has one or two bugs in it..
 
So the trick to getting the best car is purely to beat a rival. Beat webber and nicked vettels car. Looking forward to trying out that car next season!

Yh, I found it rather suspect when I got a blow out just as I happened to cross the start line going down the main straight. -_-
 
Got the game today. I'm really liking it but sometimes the AI can be a bit over aggressive. I was going along and Barrichello comes out of nowhere and tries to run me off the the track. Mental.
 
Sometimes the pace is all over, I could only manage 13th on the grid for the last race of the season. Didn't care because the title was over anyway. Started the race and cut through the pack to lead in 2 laps. Won with ease.

Yet the race before I qualified on pole by over a second and ended up coming 2nd to alonso even though I was totally consistent.

Oh well onto year 3.
 
Same here I was 2 seconds a lap faster then 2 nd yet he still won as he didn't pit, and no they was no rain , it even gave me a rule reminder on the 2 nd from last lap slightly annoying to say the least!
 
Anyone else find the penalties are bit easily doled out? Found a couple times in practice that i`ll spin out, reverse off the track (if im facing the wrong direction), AI car will come to the clear racing line, but I`ll still get a grid penalty :(

Just up'd the difficulty as I won a race, so now i`m on expert. Much harder than before! Finding China tough to get right. There are 2 corners that I`m really struggling with. The tightish left hander after the straight about half-way is my nemesis right now. Just can't get the right curb attack to carry speed!

I was about to post the same thing about penalties. I'm sure I get some even though I'm not at fault. For the Melbourne race I was trying to gain ground at the back of the pack. Go smoothly round a corner and Senna comes out of nowhere, clips my wheel and sends me off track and I got a 10 second penalty for causing a collision! Very annoyed with that considering I was doing well up until that point.
 
I find that the Virgin car is crap but I can really attack the chicanes and catch up again to the rivals, such as the Torro Rosso team. Over the lap I lose ground but the chicanes for the AI cars are always slow.
 
Oh wow, professional level at Spain took 4th on the grid, I nailed a really good lap in my toro rosso of 1:23.3 which would have got me pole had Vettel and Webber pip me by next to nothing..

Also, my team mate is getting the upgrades, I do all the work and scored all the points minus his 4 and I get no upgrades.. Charming..!!

Anyhow, race was intense... I pitted way too early, got caught up in a lot of cars entering the pits, but thankfully I got out without too much hassle but lost a lot of places, but heikki kovalainen in a lotus won..!! He never pitted, but least it meant Vettel didn't win and now due to some good places in this season sitting second in the championship...

Thats how messed up the none pitting AI is though, its messed the whole championship table up... Codemasters produced a great racer, and messed up the career mode...

Still, monaco next..

i picked up the MS wheel for this, made the game so much better...still missing somthing, so i ordered a wheelstandpro..now the game has transformed..really enjoying it.

Yes, was abit over eager to exit the last turn at Catalunya (that mickey mouse chicane). Normally short shift upto third and give it some welly but caught the kerb wrong and span out. I was sat at the edge of the track and ended up with a 5 place penalty for blocking and another for cutting the track :confused: Gutted, stuck it on pole by a second and ended up starting 16th :(
