Hey all,

Any news on Codemasters actually making an F1 game then,

I think now would be a good time to release one since the sport is getting a lot of publicity at the minute (bad or good it doesnt matter) so I think a lot of people would buy it.

I remember the one on the PS3, that was awesome but needs an update.

Anyone else looking forward to this game as much as me?

Thanks, Sam

Funny you should make this thread, watching the Shanghai race at the weekend was making me want to play some F1 racing, especially when Trulli was talking about the course.

I was really really hoping for an F1 game. I imagine one now would be awesome!

Without looking up any sources, I think the next game is set for release next year unfortunately.

There's a forum here to keep up to date with progress.

Simply because Codemasters are developing this title Ive lost intrest. Their history of car games doesnt provide much hope. Id imagine this will be some sort of arcade title where you can drift F1 cars round corners at 200mph.

Spot on. There driving games are awful and ill be avoiding this. although i will let micromachines off (i think they made the original).

Better than bouncing cars off walls in order to get the best times like in Gran Turismo surely?

Not everyone likes sims - I prefer a decent arcade-slant, and loved Dirt and Grid (and yeah, MicroMachines ;) ).

However, I think I remember reading that that they would be catering for both sim and arcade players. They'd have to try hard to do worse than the utter trash that has been released on the consoles over the past few years.

I enjoyed Dirt and Grid :)

Dirt did feel very arcade like but I think it suited the game well

Any formula one game has to straddle simulation and fun to make it good. The most fun F1 game in my opinion, was the original one on playstation, it had the balance right and with the right graphics and commentary team, it was superb.

I liked Grid, im confident it will be good fun, even it if it wont satisfy the racing gaming geeks, it will certainly be good for most others.

Tbh the studio liverpool effort on the PS3 was near enough perfect. With all the aids turned off it was incredibly challenging, the graphics were good, the sound effects were good, it had all the game modes it needed and most importantly it actually felt like you were driving an incredibly challenging vehicle.

If the new one feels like Grid i won't be happy, not because Grid is a bad game but because i've always liked F1 to feel at least partially realistic.

Needs to be like pole position on Atari, that was awesome

also, i agree with the latest ps3 f1 game, it was awesome from what i saw, never played it but my friend was on it often, with all assists off. ANd it looked great, he played some stupid realistic mode where he played for hours and hours and hours and hours, just going round and round. dedication right there haha

But damage does make it realistic. I played the ps3 demo of F1 and it was like any other driving game of bouncing off other cars.
