Plenty of people are of the opinion that 60fps is highly desirable for certain genres of games, like racing and fighting games. Of course i would prefer 60fps. It is an easier play and usually feels perceivably smoother, however, it is not the making/unmaking of a game.

This thread isn't really for revisiting the whole 30fps vs 60fps debate and there is a specific thread for that purpose which I linked to at the start of this thread

When developers make a game, what they should do (and what good developers *do* do) is design the gameplay, set a target rate of 60fps and then design the graphics around this goal. Make the graphics fit the framerate, until the graphics are as good as they can be while maintaining this framerate and not dropping frames.
What seems to happen nowadays is devs design the graphics first, make them as detailed as possible, throw in all effects including the kitchen sink, and then as an afterthought see what framerate they end up with. That isn't good enough
