I have a soft spot for Hennessy, when I was a kid I went to Cognac with the family and we went round their distillery.
The smell in the buidlings where they aged the cognac was sooooooo nice!
Sounds like a VSOP is the one to go for, will have a look in Tesco tomorrow.
I know I originally said I wanted it for Xmas, but reading this has changed my mind and I fancy some for the weekend
You should try Remy Martin Louis XIII its 150years old and cost £999 for a standard bottle.
Edit: Hmm £40 budget prooves problematic, i think even the taster section at Remy Martin brewery in Cognac costs a surplus £60 to try a v.small serving (about quarter of a shot glass)
I'm intersted in getting a nice bottle of cogac for myself, currently drinking courvoiser, it's quite nice but i'm not all that in the know of nice brandy, all I know is i love the stuff. Keep the recommendations coming!
Personal preferance, but I prefer a nice Armagnac... it's a lot smoother than most Cognacs... Marquis de Montesquiou Imperial XO is my Armagnac du jour.
