*** Colin McRae DiRT 2 ***

I got Grid for the PS3, and was really disappointed with all the screen tearing, I played DiRt on the PC and whilst it was a decent game, it had its faults, like so many Codemaster racing games...

I'll get the demo and see how I get on.... Racing games can be hit n miss, and seeing as no Forza for me (no xbox360) then guess its better then nothing at all...;)
 
I loved the first one despite its horrendous handling, it was damn fun! Its one of my most played 360 games and I'm really looking forward to number 2!

I found the handling still a bit parp on the demo tbh, the slides were good but even on the loose gravel of the demo track my car felt way to grippy up front. Getting it into the slide right was the problem, I found myself yanking on the handbrake to really swing the back out which just wouldnt of been needed considering the speed and surface.

I assume the final game will have real rally stages/staging etc. in? I thought the flashy american claptrap was just extras really?
 
Has a good sense of speed, I drive on the bonnet view and when you go through that village it's a bit arse-clenching to get the car sorted out so it'll fit through the gap between the houses :D

If you want an Epic rallying game, then Richard Burns Rally on the PC, but it's a sim, so if you crash it's game over ;)
 
Downloaded the demo last week...played it for about 10 mins...thought it was utter **** much like the first one...handling is near impossible i found so another game i wont be getting.

What i mean is that i found it hard to control the cars...either im just rubbish or this game just doesnt give the right feedback...as with the first one braking is just ridiculous...its like you can brake and stop within mm's.

Anyhow never been a fan of rally car games in all honesty..the best one i liked was the original Colin McRae rally game...that was pretty good.

Im waiting for Forza 3 to come out...one game im looking forward to.

It's nothing like the first one, especially the stupid braking of the first game. In the original you could stop on a dime instantly, you can't do that in this one :confused:

The handling is also a lot 'looser' and more weighty than the original.

First thing I did when playing the demo was go off the track, but tried again and I was better :p

If he died during developement then fair enough - however he had nothing to do with the game what so ever, and thats why to me it makes a huge difference

If an awful game pays tribute to someone - its better to not have the tribute imo (general comment not specific to this game as I havent tried it)
 
I think it's fine if they are paying some royalties to his family, or whatever charities that Colin supported.

However, I was kind of surprised that it's Colin McRae rally as all the hype was focusing on how much involved Ken Block is, I thought it was going to be Ken Block's Dirt 2.

I'm in two minds whether to get this, I've not really played any driving games since I got PGR3 with my Xbox when I first bought it. But I quite fancy buying a wheel with a good driving game.
 
Looking forward to it immensely! Really enjoyed the demo and was never very big on stage rallying, this looks more lively and action packed, having fun and not taking itself too seriously, the engine feels much upgraded from DIRT, I just hope there is some free mode to use any car on any track, have a mega urge to take an Evo round the Baja course from the demo! :D
 
played the demo at Trax on sunday, to me it seems better than the first one but I didnt get long on it as Ken Block was due out on the track so ran off to watch him :D will probably pick it up tho as it seems good fun :)
 
Played the demo, was great - It seems harder than the first game though... anyone agree? Maybe its just because I haven't played in ages!
