*** Colin McRae DiRT 2 ***

Thought the demo was rubbish. I want a proper WRC game like the old xbox ones. Proper stage racing and car repairs.

WRC is on its last legs, would be a pretty terrible game if it was exclusively WRC now. Oh wow, what do I chose, Ford or Citroen? Decisions, decisions...

DiRT has taken a different direction for a reason, whoever bought the WRC licence from them did them a favour.

Quite enjoyed the demo, and yea the presentation was fantastic. This will be a rental for me.

Oh man, so many games coming out this fall, and so little money.

I'd like to get this, Forza3, NFS Shift, Borderlands, MW2, etc., etc...

Console gaming is expensive!

One word my friend, rental.

I'm buying Brutal Legend and Forza 3, the rest (about 6 games) are consigned to the rental list so will only cost me £10...maybe £20 for a couple of months rental. :D

Have pre-ordered this and NFS Shift.

I prefer arcadey racers like Grid, PGR series etc so I'm looking forward to both these. Forza is too yawnsome for me, sadly.

Well agree reviews are looking good, demo was good, graphics are excellent I do like racing games, WRC is not a good basis for a game anymore, so Codemasters have done the right thing and provided more choice and for this I think this could be a worthwhile purchase....

So, think I'll be picking this one up, its an arcade racer, and I'll take it for what it is....

I do also think they should drop the Colin McRea in the title, it just doesn't seem to fit the type of game it is now.....

but thats just IMO. Nothing to do with the fact he's now on longer with us, its more of an all round arcade rally / cross etc game then an hardcore WRC racer.....

I'd agree. Though they've already dropped it for every release other than the EU one for some reason.

It's a nice tribute, but smacks a bit of trying to ride his name out at the same time to me.

Day one purchase for me, loved DiRT and after playing the demo of DiRT 2 made me decide straight away I want it.

Love a bit of arcadey fun.

Been playing this a bit today, It is basically just grid with a hell of a lot of pointless name dropping and tons of DC and Monster advertising thrown in, After installing the game (mandatory on ps3) I must have only been playing 5 minutes and seen well over 100 DC advertisements,

They have the rewind feature from grid and I am pretty sure it is running on exactly the same engine, It looks near identical in the menus.

And what is with all the fireworks when crossing the finish line or going over "huge air" jumps, This was never what the Colin Mcrae games were about, It is a bastardisation of what used to be a good game series.

I haven't played much so far yet though, only the first 3 races but I hope it gets a lot better than this,

I will let you know how I get on with it

ooo that doesn't sound too good.

I was all set to pick this one up. Might wait and see some more user reviews before I bother..

Is it me, or are codemaster games starting to get sloppy? Fuel was quite bad from all accounts.

They never seemed to have repeated the huge success of Toca1 and Colin McRea when it was a proper rally game... Shame. Oh well.

Played this quite a bit more today, I am starting to enjoy it.

There is a lot of variety in the races (I love gate crasher) and it does look very pretty,

If you want a good fun arcade racer then get it, it shouldn't be called dirt 2 though, it should have it's own name. Then I wouldn't be bitter and would have seen it for the great game it is from the start

Great game IMO, I'm really enjoying it. If you forget the CMR heritage and take it for what it is you'll find a hugely fun, well made and very pretty arcade racer
