Colin McRae is elite

The bonnet incident I'm referring to was about 5-8 years ago, and I think it might have been a Toyota Corolla.

It was certainly pre-Focus days, when Ford still ran Escort Cossies.

Sweet video

Never seen rally drivng at the X games before, is it new?

Find shorter stage events like that a lot more interesting :)

They whine too much and have no balls.

"Stages are too long, we get tired."

"Can we get rid of night stages?"

"Can we make them all two-day events?"

I'm sorry Penski but I have to disagree with you there. I've done both professional circuit racing and rallying and imho rallying is 10x harder. The amount of concentration you have to put into rallying is phenomenal. My first big rally was a one day event and I ended up passing out at the end due to sheer exhaustion. Doing it at night is even worse! On the track you get into a nice rythmn but during a rally you're on your toes 110% of the time.

BTT, Mcrae is an awesome driver, unfortunately he just tries a little "too" hard sometimes as the video demonstrates.

Im not sure if he has driven with a bonnet up.

I know Petter Solbergs younger brother kicked his windscreen out and drove it while it was snowing reasonably heavy :p

Being an Aussie I'd have thought you'd appreciate it rather more when Brockie* used to do that sort of thing on the moutain**.

For those that have no idea what I'm on about (you'd better not be in this group Zip):

* = Peter Brock, Aussie racing driver, legend.
** = Bathurst, Mount Panorama. Home of one of the best road course races in the world.

Peter Brock is a 9 times winner of the Athirst 1000.
I know who he is :)

But rallying has always attracted me far more then what he did and the V8 supercars do and the Touring series.

Richard Burns(RIP) is my Favorite driver

Thank God for that.

I don't really care for rallying, at least not the WRC stuff. Now, go back a few (well, more than a few really) years to the Group B stuff and then your're talking :)

And yes, may you rest in peace Richard Burns. Went well before your time should have been up.

I would like to see another group B rallying champion ship so the manufactures can strut there stuff again.
I havnt watched much rallying for the last to seasons because i cant stand Loeb winning and beating the subarus all the time :p

The bonnet thing was only about 2-3 years ago, it was Marko Martin, it was a previous shape Focus WRC.

There have been quite a few bonnet things like that. Ive seen it happen to a lot of people

It was definitely longer ago than that. Didier Auriol was the fella, I'm fairly sure.

Anyway, the fact that there's been more than one 'bonnet incident' just goes to show that they are all complete nutters.

Don't worry your little pretentious mind. ;) I'll be posting up a thread very soon about next season's championship I'm entering, which for a change takes place down south at most of the BTCC circuits.

But to satisfy your curiosity I've taken part in 4 rallies up here (only finished 2 of them mind you), mostly in the historic class with my father co-driving in our mini which is now sold, along with various sprint championships at Knockhill, Kames etc and some small amateur hillclimbs at Forrestburn, Doune etc.

Well, his name is Mark Scoular according to his trust.

Ah...So him and his dad did a couple of events in an old mini...

Certainly not "professional rallying" by any stretch of the imagination.

A couple of Clubman entries (oooh, unintentional pun) does not a "professional" rally driver make ;)

*n (my google-fu is DAMN strong)

First time I've seen penski being referred to as pretentious on here....

Hoe did you do in the two rallies that you finished?
