Colin McRae is elite

You'll have to forgive my scepticism...We had a guy the other month who maintained that his dad developed the C110 Skyline, led the R32 development team, headed the assaults on Bathurst as technical team leader and "won several rallies as both codriver and driver for Datsun including the Safari and Monte Carlo."

It turned out that his dad was codriver for a privateer entry on two minor rounds of the BRC in the mid-eighties (you know the kind - "The Rally of Twelve Eggs" based in a field near Grantham)...And they retired from both. With mechanical failure.

First time I've seen penski being referred to as pretentious on here....

Hoe did you do in the two rallies that you finished?

Not very well tbh, think we were about 6th or 7th in class on both accounts, overall though we were down in the 50s. In the last one we did which was down in Northumberland (I'll remember the name of the rally in a minute) we were lying 1st with 3 stages to go. Things were going brilliantly but after a severe watersplash (read overflowing river with depth markings showing 3ft) the car cut out. We both though the water had gotten into the dizzy cap but alas after trying to fix it it turned out we had ran out of fuel! MSA regulations state you're not allowed to carry extra containers with fuel so we were stuffed and had to be towed back in!

My neck of the woods ;)

Jim Clark?

Border Reivers?

Berwick Classic?

Charterhall stages?

The Ford-crossing sounds like the Clark :)

lol, I can understand your point. Although we ourselves aren't "professionals" and do it for a living, I do maintain it is a professional class we compete in. Our biggest problem in the rallies and circuit stuff we've done was our lack of cash and couldn't compete with the big boys. Hence why next season's championship we're entering in is purely a one make chamionship with virtually stock cars. Hopefully we should do well, but I'll post up soon once someone makes an educated guess at the championship we're hopefully entering in :)

No, just found the pics. It was the Buglass Trophy Rally. We tried to get an entry into the Jim Clark Memorial Rally but were declined.

Pics below. Top one is just after the Buglass Rally, rather worse for wear and second one is during either the Carrera Caledonia Rally or Angus Classic, I can't remember which.
