Comics these days-

I remember when the beano was something like 25p (often with a free chewy bar or something worth ~5-10p*

Oh my god! I had completely forgot about that.

Reminds me of the Beano comics I used to buy in the 90s. I remember them costing 50p and would buy the new one each week after school. I remember having stacks of them in a cupboard. No idea what my nan did with them now...

Those were the days. I think I stopped getting comics around 91 - 93.

Striker was the only reason I read The Sun.

Not being a Sun reader I had to Google that, I guessed by the name that it was something to do with football.
When I first saw the thread title I thought that it was going to be about those alleged comedians that are all over TV these days, sometimes chairing, or appearing on dumb panel type shows, I’m looking at you Nish Kumar, Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett, Rob Brydon, James Acaster, Leigh Francis, Jason Manford, all about as funny as a positive Covid test result.

Kids comics these days are crap. They’re a poor quality toy with a free “comic” attached. It’s no wonder kids don’t fall easily into the reading habit anymore.

2000AD has recently been issuing Regened versions aimed at the c10 year old audience. No idea how they are but it’s good to finally see some effort. Apart from that there’s really only The Beano if you’re after a proper comic.
