I'm surprised to see that this game hasn't got the flak that Assassins Creed 2 got, even though it has the same "persistent connection" DRM approach.

Is is such a good game that ithis doesn't matter, or is the game so despised, people won't even talk about it?

Well in that case it'll be a terrible game with terrible DRM. I'd already decided to avoid it like the plague having played the beta.

I lost most of my interest when i found out that base building had been all but removed from the game :(

Might get it at some point in the future, but i find myself even more apathetic with the onset of this "always online" requirement..

Shame. I only play single-player RTSs, because that's how bad I am at them. I'm not getting it with this DRM. I really wanted to, because of the story and it's a PC exclusive, which I wanted to support, but I'm not getting it now.

There you go.

It's absolutely rubbish, an utter abomination, and an embarassment to the C&C series.

I'm just hoping EA come out at the last minute with "Gotcha!" and suddenly announce that the retail version will have resource gathering and base building.

I haven't heard anything about C&C4, so forgive me but...

What? What?! You mean it doesn't have those things? You're kidding me? C&C without bases and resources?

Ahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha! Wow, that's terrible.

From what I gathered of the (poor) Beta - it was buggy and broken a LOT.

There's no base building or resource gathering. You simply have a single building that can walk around and build stuff. You just spam your best unit and send them en masse at the enemy.

It comes down to level as that's how you unlock better stuff.

What a total and utter waste of time - I hope it bombs.

Been very loyal to the series until RA3, even bought a second copy to see if Co-op would save it, it doesn't.

Hard to think that C&c1 was the reason I dumped the Amiga and started playing PC games, its gone so far down hill after RA2.

Me too! We should hook up for a clash of the r - tards some time.

I think the flak was mostly taken by AC2 because it was the first with this specific DRM, so a lot of people were basing their opinions on how well it performed (fail). There don't seem to be many pirate versions out there, but I could just be searching in the wrong places. Regardless, its main purpose is to stifle the second-hand PC game trade, and in that it'll succeed mightily - whether it countermands their enormous loss of sale and bad rep the whole crappy system has brought to Ubisoft, will never really be known. Published sales figures? Accurate representation of the real harm caused by over-zealous DRM? Why would you need that? No, play C&C4 instead. You might enjoy it.
