p35 ocs quads better then 680i
i assume sli isnt needed
corsair HX520 will be more than enough, get the 620 if you want. it is also a better build then the coolermaster i think.

I was thinking SLi but I am not hearing good things about it and the cost/performance gain is not worth it..

OK.. thanks for the info.. Shopping list revised :)

Sli is not worth the hassle, including board limitations ie 680i/ 780i chipset. The P35 boards for example the Abit IP pro is an excellent board supports raid and over clocks extremely well

The standard IP-35 does have built-in RAID capability, as well as Firewire, but not eSATA. The IP-35E does not have these; it is just basic functionality. The IP-35 Pro has all these, as well as a better heatpipe cooling system, and some other nice bells and whistles, such as a diagnostic LED display. If you intend to use external hard drive and want to use eSATA support, so the IP-35 Pro

CyZMyAssBaby, why wouldnt you take the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R? (you selected the DS3P mobo)

The reason why i did not recommend the DS3R:

The difference between the two motherboards is:

The GA P35 DS3P x2 pci express x16 slots vs the DSR (x1 x16 PCIE)

and x3 firewire ports (IEE1394) the DSR has no firewire. The The GA P35 DS3P also will support x2 esata whilst the DS3R does not.

Although both boards support DDR3 and DDR2

I bought these components on Thursday/Friday along with some ram an 8800GTS and an aftermarket cooler. Once I did a fresh install of XP I was very happy.

Wow........did not see the 2 pci 16 slots on that board. Completely missed that. I may change and get the DS3P.

In cross fire mode one the one PCIE lane will run at 16x and the second lane at 4x as it doesn't support Sli.

Although if you were to decide to run raid for example or require back up the esata is excellent.

For £18 difference between the the Ds3P offers just a tad more functionality over the Ds3R.

If you are purchasing for future proof ie DDR3 then even more so to lean on the Ds3P due to the extra functionality "extras" the board offers

Do the X38 Gigbayte boards have both slots running at 16x?
If so ill sheel out an extra £20 for an x38 board.
