Althrough i still don't think the Commodore brand would be alive today in any meaningful way. It should have lasted a lot longer than it did…
I think it probably would have been if the UK strategy had been adopted by the rest of the company. It would likely have been more a console with a keyboard & mouse but there ain't ought wrong with that imho.
Apparently Commodore UK tried to buy the rights to it when the rest of Commodore sank. They lost out to Recommend and that caused Commodore UK to fold as well..
Yep, I remember it at the time & I wish they'd managed to win the sale. But as such they lost & simply ran out of stock to sell as a result. Things should have been different & it gone to at least someone who was passionate about saving the company. Dark days those.
