Community Shield spoiler

All in all, it was not an important game, I wasn't bothered when we won it last year and I'm not bothered that we've lost it this year, as my absence from the stadium testifies.

Lets just get on with the new season and stop bickering over this waste of time.;)

I cannot see any real bickering & was enjoying the good natured discussion which I was happy to see had not broken down at any point, almost like times of old.

So continuing :p it appears that the FA may well be looking into the Cole & Campbell incidents after all & they may get reds cards following that.

On a slightly different tangent, is everyone of the opinion that red cards given in pre-season matches should count towards league matches?

The community shield is an FA match so I'm not surprised that any in that count when the league arrives, but in a match arranged between 2 teams if someone gets sent off surely it shouldn't count?

Yep, particularly when some refs send players off, then others order them off (to be subbed), or don't submit reports on it!

You think that red cards in friendlies arranged by the club (meaning the club sets them up and chooses to play them) and aren't in any way affiliated to the FA should count in FA matches?

Why?

No

Prehaps I didn't explain!

As I see it:

Bookings/Sendings off in the FA Cup should only count in the FA Cup. The same in the league, League only not Cup. (Basically the way European games work)

Friendlies shouldn't count. It's like me being sent off this Saturday in a local game in the park, and not being able to make my debut at Cambridge next week!!

Why don't they just give em the 3 match bans now, it will save us from waiting......

This really really annoys me.

Last season how many times did we hear We have to wait for the refs report. But when it's Arsenal, the FA speak up the next day.

I'm sure the rules state that once the ref has seen the indicent then player can't be punished (basically saying the ref can't be judged to be wrong) So therefore Cole can't be done.

However remember Bergy, the ref waved play on (west ham, elbow on Bowyer) yet he was still done.

I suggest the FA deduct 20 points from AFC now! Cause I'm sure they will.

I would concurr...but think Jeffers deserves more than 3 :p (& dispite the smilie I am beaing serious)

In response to Gilly, I agree, I think it is a sham that reds carry into league games especially given that Yellows don't count, please show me the logic there

Gooner14, a good suggestion, I shall write to the FA with your recommendation :D

Indeed, am used to translating JAzz talk :D

However not sure if you lost 20 players you would compare even with our 20 man loss a season of injuries, we have learnt to buy in replacements :D

Anyhow, this thread has come to an end & may even get an archiving if I remember :D

Only the straight reds count, yellows, and two yellows to red wouldnt carry over, its part of the "friendly" "charitable" aspect of the match.
if Campell and Cole had got second yellows it wouldnt of matter for the start fo the season.
