compared to a ps3?

Well I'm sure the PS3's graphic unit is compared to the 7900GTX and the Xbox360's graphics are just a bit faster than a X1900XTX.

Here is a list of cards for the PC which I'd say are better than the PS3 and Xbox360.

8800 Ultra > 8800GTX > 2900 and 8800GTS about the same level.

If used to its full potential the ps3 should have better visuals than the
xbox 360. This isn't down to the gpu though its down to the cell inside the
ps3. Up until just recently though games on xbox have tended to look better
but watching some of the previews of games coming out on ps3 i think thats
starting to change and so do the people previewing these games.

For under £300 you can get a 8800GTX which is considerably better than the hardware in a PS3, when used properly.

On histortical advantage PC gfx cards have always had over consoles is the ability to run at higher resolutions / AA. Although this is starting to change somewhat with consoles supporting 1080p - the latest PC games will struggle for performance if you were to use higher res than that.

I wouldn't even begin to start trying to weigh up PC hardware to consoles, it just doesn't work like that.

You can compare them though. My games look a lot better on my PC through my 720p TV than my Xbox 360 games do, thanks to AA/AF controls and other things. Crysis would probably brick my Xbox 360.

Wrong. 360 has a better GPU.

the 360 is a far superior console to the PS3, if you consider its features/popularity.

but not to get off topic, you really cannot compare the PC to consoles, because the PC will come out on top every time. PC's are constantly changing, when a console is released, its hardware is instantly surpassed by the PC.
You simply cannot compare the 2

It does have the more powerful gpu but it does not have the technology of
cell which balances this up. Read a good bit on this topic around the net and
different games designers say different things on the consoles. If you look
at the previews of upcoming games for ps3 you will see now that its beginning
to put out same graphics as xbox 360 and some look even better. You have
to remember that the xbox 360 has been out longer also so games are more
mature on that also over the ps3 and the ps3 is also harder to code games
for also but that will change as designers get to grips with it.

Its features lol its because the ps3 has more features than the 360 that
its way to high on price so it does not have more features. 1 of the reasons
i got an xbox 360 was because of the half decent price and the fact
it came first but will also get a ps3 when the price drops a little more.

ps3 vs 360

as far as im aware, the 360 has the better GPU
and the ps3 has the better cpu.

thats the main thing it boils down to from the reading up iv done of the 2 consoles.
yes there is a lot more to it like the memory in the 360 can be dynamically allocated between vram and system where as the ps3 has it spilt and locked down between vram and system.
also few other things but getting into it will require too much typing.

as for console vs pc, hmm, pc has the power but too many shoddy ports which make for short lifespan of the hardware.

consoles keep on ticking for years with new games and no faffing around with drivers and other stuff with a console. although pc games do seem to have more depth to the gameplay compared to console stuff.
