Competitions - Do you enter them?

As a scientifically minded person, I shouldn't believe in luck, however I know two people that constantly win raffles and bets, it really doesn't make sense.

I don't gamble because it ends in me losing money 99% of the time.

Won a Madplayer once about 10 years ago.. erm.. Mum enters the daily mail comps now and then, she won a horse shoe from one of the horses from will and kates wedding hah

the lotto 's really the only 'competition' I enter on a semi regular basis.

Won second prize in a radio phone in the early 90's. 1st prize was brand new video recorder. I won a copy of a transformers video ( a collection of the cartoons from the series ) and 6 free video rentals from xtra vision video store.

Pretty sure that's all I won.

Got three numbers in Irish lotto at the bookies. £600 return.

After seeing this thread I went on a bit of a spree and turns out I've won a bottle of 212 from the Sky 212 competition. Shame I didn't win the first prize of going to see Barca play, but it's a nice treat. :)

I bought a bottle of Mountain Dew last year for lunch at work. It had a code on the back for a Halo 4 competition that I put onto their website.

I didn't win the main prize of going to America, but I got a free copy of Halo 4.

Only competition I have really entered.

I came home from school many moons ago and I opened a parcel to find a signed bullet for my valentine album, can't remember entering a competition to win it though...

Gave it to a friend for his birthday a week later.

I never enter competitions as I don't want my details being sold to all and sundry.

Those of you that do enter, do you not get bombarded by emails/texts/calls/post from random companies? I presume you would use a separate email address but what if it asks for your mobile or landline number or your address?

not often. Only ever won one thing, about 4 years ago I won of all things a washing machine (a pricey one at that).

Came in handy, as my sister-in-laws broke down a couple of days before, so she got our old one!

I've just started doing a few competitions after reading this thread. I don't enter if it asks for your phone number. The only exception is if it asks for a phone number and an email, in which case I just put a fake number in and hope they use the email address if I win :D. I only ever put my home address if it's something I really want to win and it's from a reputable looking place.

I once won letter of the week in Zoo mag or nuts... I forget which one.

Basically there was some bird in the mag saying in the time shes not modeling with her jubblies out shes a plasterer with her dad. My argument was this is BS! And a bag of thistle was heavier than her. They responded with some crap remark but I won a Xbox 360 and rock band with all the bits. Ebayed the lot!

I've one a few DVDs and a Kindle in the past as well as an iPad from a draw at work.

I do competitions less now and am more fussy about which ones I enter to try and reduce the spam etc that some of them end up sending you after they've harvested your details (even if you have selected no to that being done).
