Again, it's still Spie's decision. It's hardly the end of the world that you can't say certain things.

Yeah but if somewhere is cheaper then?

Also what about games, desks and all these little bits? Im sure the owners of OcUK are rolling in it and having a good time (Ive heard some-things).

Why can we talk of them? On every single other online retailer forum you can mention competitors.

There's only a few games retailers that also sell a significant amount of other stuff to be classed as competitors. And I think it's obvious to nearly everyone which ones they are. So if someone says they got a cheap game but can't say where from then it's pretty obvious where to look.

Again, it's the owners decision. If you really don't like it that much, there's plenty of other places out there you can use.

There are plenty of other places you can use to find what you're looking for without the use of a forum, such as www.google.com . You can still discuss products, and which to go for, just not where to get them from. Common sense is required, though some people don't appear to have it on here at times.

It does get very aggravating when deals on certain items which OcUK don't sell can't be found because the offending merchant sells other things which compete with OcUK.

Finding nice deals on certain games or furniture is an obvious one.

Firstly, sorry for replying so late.

As was explained earlier in the thread, I do have a life and have been busy this evening and throughout the day so have not been at my PC to reply, so will do now.

Competitors are not allowed, end of.

You can mention Tesco's and link to a cabbage online, but mentioning them in the sense of PC hardware is not ok.

Some other big stores you can not mention anything from, due to them selling a SIGNIFICANT amount of hardware as their product line.

It is a simple rule, been here since the forums opened.

The thread was not a debate, it was posted as a warning so when I issue suspensions to people they can not turn around a say they did not have a warning.

Accept the rules, or leave the forums. It really is that simple, they are not the hardest set to abide by, no OcUK competitors or swearing.

Thats about it as long as your friendly.... complicated.

That's what spie said that other time , if its not a debate then why have it open for debate? . Do people at your work place have meetings but dont allow anybody to say anything?

In all honesty if someone cant think for a second and not mention a competitor name, then they should get booted. Ok theres some iffy situations, but the vast majority are clear cut and just plain pointless.

Heck most the time theres no need at all to go "oooh i got so and so from X place"

If you'r unsure, dont do it? If you want to know something email the person!

Loads of places have different rules, no swearing, totally family forum etc etc. Just another rule, no harm to your life... move on.

And people cant think for themselves to use google or use trust emails?

The intelligence levels in this thread suggest not, although offering to give out ways of getting to competitors is also against the rules.

So it can be bumped. Nobody reads something on the 410000 page. Even less people read stickys. The FAQ was not even read by the person who wrote it. This way people actually read it.

Yup, and they can then have less right to moan when they say they didn't read the FAQ or the thread.

Not everyone has a trust account.
Not everyone knows exactly what to search for.
Asking is discouraged.
People might not check their trust emails very often.

Also, if the original person doesn't say 'I got so and so for X price', then how am I supposed to know to send him or her an email? Or should I mass mail the entire userbase and ask them the latest things they've bought?

Okay this is just silly. I can understand the concept, but most pc users know how to use google to find products from other competitor sites, its not that hard. Anyone who doesn't look into the product for a better price is daft.

What if you link to an US based site as I can name many. OcUK does not care for overseas competitors, so if you linked to a hardware site based in US and uses $ currency, would that be okay?

Nope overseas competitors aren't allowed.

Yewen, your message was simple and easy to understand

close the thread and let the irrisponsible members who abuse or break the rules suffer the consequences

They are allowed if they don't ship to the UK, ie Newegg.

Correct.

I really do not see what some of your problems are, it is SIMPLE to understand.

If I came into your house, started smoking in it when you specifically had it as a house rule not to, you would not be pleased.

It is the same thing.

Every thread to wake people up to competitors ends up this way, extremely childish behaviour for people who have agreed to these terms when they made the forum account.

You do not have to exclusively buy from OcUK, nobody forces you. If you are on OcUK's forums however you will not send people to the competition.

Is it really that hard?

Some people really need to read my top post, only competitors are not allowed.

If a PC shop only shipped to one street in the Gambia it is not a competitor, link to it all you like.

If it ships to the UK aswell, no.

That is the warning, and it has been acted upon.

Blah blah blah blah rules blah blah blah :o

Understood (not that I really post in here much anyway :p)

Oh and Yewen - your definately not allowed to have a life :p*

Until you can fix my case :(

You know... OcUK coud probably make a neat sideline in selling babies rattles to forum members, given their proclivity for throwing theirs out of the pram at the slightest hint of a warning.
