Computer cutting off

Afternoon guys. I have just upgraded my computer and currently have 3 games installed. Battlefield 4, Sim City and Black Ops 2.

Currently when I play black ops 2 I can get half way through a game and the computer shuts off. No sign of slow down or anything just cuts off completely. I am unable to turn the computer back on for 5 Minutes minimum. Although the motherboard light is still on green. This does't happen with the other 2 games.

Current specs are

600W Power supply
FX 8320 8 Core CPU
Asus M5A97 Motherboard
650 TI Graphics Card
1 x 8Gb Corsair XM3 Ram
1 x 500gb Seagate HDD

Windows 7 x64 Fully updated

If it was CPU i would assume the computer would slow first then turn off. never ever had a problem with a graphics card and it is more than enough to play the 3 games. Only other option i think is the 600W Power supply but then the motherboard has the green light on even after it has cut off. i seem to be stumped so would like some help if possible?

Also event Viewer shows nothing wrong

Thanks

Would it be a general in the case heat issue or specifically CPU or graphics card etc. I have a large case Aqua Jeantech Only have 3 fans at moment 1 large intake at front, stock cooler and one out at the rear

when i have seen this in the past its usually the cpu over heating, have you checked the heatsink etc to make sure its fitted properly? check temps of cpu this would be my first port of call.

Hmmm ive had a cpu overheat a while back old Athlon 64 lol but it generally ran slow then shut down, Temps using CPUID is 16 - 25 on idle i did see it go up to 47 when playing battlefield 4 bios shows the same 16 - 25 on idle. heat sink is seated correctly no movement although it did come with the grease already on the sink first time ive seen that usually i use Arctic silver in a tube unfortunately they didnt have any in stock.

... sure. Your temps at home are 14-15 deg ? :) If not, you simply can't have 16 deg on CPU. AMD's temps readings are often a fake.

It's probably your PSU. What it exact brand and model ? I suspect it's some kind of black-listed (unbranded) PSU with "paper" only wattage.

Aah. I see PSU now. Change it and cuts-off are probably gone

Ok no probs ill nip into town the morn and pick one up. Any suggestions? Looking at the £30 - £50 range could maybe stretch to 60.

Atomic cheers for the link

Cheers for the link Micky. Im not err clued up with volts/amps/watts etc but going down 50 watts make any difference to what im running? Im interested too Koolpc as i used the same psu in my previous pc and it played black ops 2 just fine, its even more weird that BF4 plays fine which i find a lot more graphics intensive than black ops will keep the thread posted

The psu will easily run your system and will have more power than your old one due to quality components.

Also comes with free shipping.

Run Prime95 to get your CPU running hot and see if it cuts off that way?
Can see what the chip is running at, at 100% load.

If temps seem fine and no cut outs, then I'd be looking at the PSU.
