Computer Desks. What do you use

im after a new desk for the lounge, i have 110cm to play with

which one shall i go for? from ikea it seems the Micke fits the bill: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70252283/#/10244743

i have a Zalman Z1 case to fit with this desk, would it go inside the cupboard?

ive seen people recommending getting just legs and a work top where would i look at getting these?

or any other desks that you can think of?

budget about £100 tops

I use a Steelcase Doue, same as mrk's but a little larger.

As it is now discontinued, I'm probably going to get one custom made, as I want a longer desk. They're the best anyway. A solid block of wood properly done by a carpenter will last for a lot longer than any mass produced dealy. :)

not sure how well you can fit it into your budget, but ikea do table bases [steel frame, 4 telescopic legs] and you can just then get a worktop of your choice [i went for a breakfast bar kitchen top] and bolt on [there's plenty of mounts on the ikea bases to do this]

ended up with 2 metres of prime real estate onto which an air 540 and 3 monitors sits with loads of room to spare

thanks, ive now moved a piece of furniture that was in the way, i now have 2.6m to play with!

how strong are the table tops with 4 legs? will it bow in the middle due to weight?

am i better of getting the Galant? looking at the 160cm one

the bases are pretty sturdy, you'd need a few folk dancing on them to get them to break.

as for the top, i can see your point, i was concerned myself about a chipboard top stretching the distance with weight on top but so far its sturdy as anything although i wouldn't want to stand on the middle but it takes the monitors with zero sag [and mine are heavy brutes]

edit: if your concerned then a couple of box section runners between the bases to hold the middle, and a supporting leg and it'd probably take a small bomb hit

Result, got the Galant (160x80 cm) for £110 from Ikea Manchester today there was a sale on but doesn't state this on their site

seems a lovely desk, cant wait to put it together :)

I've got a MALM from IKEA

Solid desk, I'm not a fan of desks with open legs, so this one was perfect for me.
