Computer game music

Monty On The Run (C64), Thing On A Spring (C64), Thrust (C64)

See a recurring theme here.

All three are from when music had to be generated by the machine, not composed then stremaed as are many of the tunes of todays games.

all IMO of course ;)

Quite right too but I would go for

War (C64) Delta (c64) Parallax (C64)

Zelda, FF7, BG, Mario, TA, Pokemon and Chronotrigger have the most memorable musical scores to me. Some of the metroid musics are pretty decent too.

I still enjoy hearing the remixes of OOT in TP for instance, good memories :)

It would have to be Unreal for me, just for that nostalgic feeling and the atmosphere it brings. UT also a close second. Not a huge fan of the UT200X music, but I'm glad they've got some of the original composers (Alexander Brandon, can't remember the other) working on UT3.

Personally I preferred Morrowind's soundtrack to Oblivion's, can't say exactly why. Also Guild Wars... well OK, anything by Jeremy Soule really :).

I liked that one that went... naaaaanaaaanaananaaaa do beep do weep doo booo. :)

Yeah that was a classic. :p

gotta be something classic like golden axe or the earlier doom games.

check out a band called megadriver they do some neat covers of old games!

The really short, simple low key music that plays alongside the Valve man at the start of Halflife, and subsequent games. Nothing for me has been so iconic, so gripping, so foretelling and foreboding. You load halflife, that simple music plays, and you know you are in for the game of your life.

Other then that, loads of games have good music, Jesper Kyd is excellent, Hell March from C&C stands out, lots of good music in games.

The opening music from Frontier: Elite II used to give me goosebumps.
There's a lemmings tune that's really cheerful too don't know how to identify it, it's quite drifty and dreamy, and the Splinter Cell:Caos Theory soundtrack by Amon Tobin is cool too.

Cannon Fodder, SWOS and the GTA games were grand too "Taxi drivers must die" on GTA2, lol.

GTA - Men folk find their women scary, cus they're so big and hairy.
C&C - Mechanical Man
Ridge Racer - Rotterdam Nation
Daytona USA - Let's GOoooooooooooo Away!
Streets of Rage - Cheese laden Midi-tastic
GTA Vice City - Bloody great 80's soundtrack
Resident Evil -The original had the right mood
FF7 - Great midi again

Mafia > *

RA2 had good music, can't really recall many other games...the Max Payne games had great music, come to think of it, but the clear winner has got to be Mafia. I just wish my discs for that game still worked. :(

:edit:

And a song from GTA has just come to mind...the fast one, the kinda rock/rap thing. That was good too. :D
