console gaming was around looong before pc gaming
call of duty is in a generic rut at the moment, i agree but why do you not think that would have happened anyway? That is kind of the problem with all entertainment media at the moment.
piracy is so so rife on the pc at the moment - i dunno if you read the interview with crytec after crysis on the pc but i remember they said that that would be the last pc exclusive they worked on due to the %age of people who just copied it.
things have kind of gone a full circle imo, we started off with games consoles and gaming computers, then in the 90's the PC had their heyday (starting with the likes of wing commander imo) basically because they were so so much more powerful than the consoles amd gaming computers like the ST/Amiga of the time.
the PS1 arrived which frankly embarrassed expensive PC hardware, but was hit back with the likes of the 3dfx voodoo a year or so later and pcs got their crown back.
PC's now are STILL more powerful than consoles, however the gap is fairly small after it all comes out of the wash (after taking into account a bloated OS and backwards compatibility & an infinite number of hardware configs holding the pc back)
but imo until piracy is stemmed on the pc, i do not think you will see many pc exclusives unless they are pay monthy games like iracing or WOW.
