Computer Overheating Probelm ! Please help

What heatsink have you got atm? Stock?
Also, what is the airflow in your case like?
Even a huge heatsink wont help much if your case is jammed in a tight corner with loads of crap piled on top of it. Try running it out in the open with the side off and see if that helps.

Clean your heatsink also, get all the dust off it. If you have fresh thermal paste, clean the bottom as well (and top of cpu obviously) and apply some fresh paste. You're most likely better off having too little paste than too much paste.

Tidy up the cabling inside your case as well.

i have the side off all the time to try and help the wires are all in sleeves and i have 2 intakes and 2 outake fans inside

the heatsink is stock AMD surely if the little things like, cleaning THE heatsink out ect, it wudnt make the cpu fly high like that would it ?....

allso on pcprobe it has cpu temperature which is processor i know but it says MB temp, is that motherboard ?

if so is the reason the motherboard is overheating is because of the processor ?

so maybe it would be a big step if i get watercooling, whats THE chance of that making it better ?

many thanks for your replys touch ;) :)

Its most likely that the cpu overheating is pushing up the motherboard temps rather than the other way around.
As for watercooling, i couldnt tell you what diff it makes, never tried it.

ah ok

so what would you do in this situation as every information ive given to help you to try and solve it ?

thanks

try lower the voltages that are going to your processor (if you know how) normally too much power going through drastically increases the heat that is generated.

for now thats all i could imagine it could be.

and its overheating the psu to 58-66 and the MB which im guessing is the motherboard to 50-58,

thanks ;)
What case are you using? I went from an Antec 900 to a Thermaltake Armour and my temperatures went up the same way, was getting 54c system and the CPU temp was rising to follow. Also my CPU cooler wasn't seated properly which was making things even worse.

It came down to the fact the case wasn't pushing enough air through, it was a big case with only one fan at the front, which just didn't do the job. Switched back to my Antec, changed cooler to a Freezer 7 and temps are back to 30c System/CPU.

I wouldn't recommend watercooling, not if your system is running at stock at the moment. Watercooling should only be used for overclocking, if a system is overheating at stock then theres something wrong with your setup. Try going into your BIOS and using the 'failsafe default' settings, see what happens there. Something could have been changed in your BIOS thats pushing the temperatures up without you realising it happened.

Can I suggest not using PC Probe to check temperatures too. Download something like Speedfan to take a look. I'm not certain, but I think PC Probe allows you to make changes through Windows and then saves them as a default, so every time you load up it'll switch back to those. I might be thinking of a different program, but uninstall PC Probe and install Speedfan, then check the temperatures through that.

Actually, pretty much uninstall anything that looks like it can adjust voltages or FSB through Windows, I know theres one or two programs on the Asus CD that does that.

ill get a one of thoes zalman cpu fans, and see if that works if not ill just take it back :p ,

the case is apevia gaming case, its full tower but its neally *** same size as my old midi which is strange, i have to admit tehres no space to work inside it whatsoever,

the motherboard is on the limit of fitting and the graphics just makes it worse,

the sides allways off so obviously airflow should be ok, theres 4 case fans 2 in 2 out,

ill allso get some decent thermal compound aswell,

any idea which would be the best cooler and thermal compound for my 939socket amd 4200+ dual core ?????

i bought akasa thermal compound but ive made a rite mess of it its everywhere now, on *** sides of cpu all on *** top and everywhere on the fan

thanks

check fan speeds

Check your fan speeds are all ok. You mention you have plenty fans, but arte they moving the air throught the case properly? I have heard of some rare cases where the fans were moving so much air, it was creating an air-deficit around the CPU area, and resulted in an overheating CPU. Also check that your Power Supply's fan is actually functioning properly.

As far as the compound goes, clean it off with some cutex remover (nail varnish remover - prefer the non perfumed stuff).

Low 50s isn't exactly overheating....even 60 isn't in my experience to crash things/shut things down, or is it different for that type of AMDs? I've had a TBird run at 80 for a few minutes and still work fine.
