Team leader desks at work have dual screen setups. So we regularly swap the inputs.

Sellotape on the bottom of an optical mouse is an easy one and if you do it right not immediately visible.

You could also plug in a secondary wireless mouse and control it with your feet.

That's great - like that one.

Couple I have had great amusement with...

Take screenshot of desktop
Make powerpoint presentation - one slide desktop, one slide inverted desktop
Play presentation fullscreen on repeat
Victim returns, has desktop and mouse works but every click just inverts desktop
Depending on victims computer savviness, amusement can last a long time before they realise what's going on

Swap buttons around on the keyboard
Make a custom windows keyboard layout so the swapped buttons still work correctly
Watch as victim slowly thinks they are going mad
Swap more buttons as time progresses
Try to keep a straight face when they finally come to compare their keyboard to yours

Personally I just hide gay porn under intriguing file names in their personal space. Sort of like rickrolling.
"Oh whats this I don't remember, OH GOD PENISES"

Maybe I'm more childish, probably a lot of offices would find that a sackable offense, which is why I like working with people that have a sense of humour.

Nothing advanced. What I used to do to annoy my friends was open every program on the desktop at the same time while they weren't looking for a few seconds. They'd turn back around to look at the monitor and find 10 different programs loading up with the computer slowed right down to a crawl. There was one program I can't remember the name of which we never used for the course, but if you opened it the computers would just lock up solid for five minutes while they worked out how to open the program. Was always a laugh when the lecturers saw what was going on and started asking why they were opening such a program.

Somehow we ended up with some dozy tart in our lectures who barely knew anything about computers or had an interest in them for a start. One guy played a prank on her one day which had the whole class in stitches as he connected a wireless mouse to her computer and downloaded a very real looking smashed glass effect which he set as the desktop background and then removed the desktop icons and everything else so it looked like a smashed blank screen.

The girl came back into the class and her PC was displaying a default screensaver. I can't remember what they did, but they managed to get the girl to accidentally fall on to the monitor at which point the wireless mouse came in to play to display the smashed glass effect on the screen after she turned away. She then looked back and saw the monitor and thought she'd actually broken it at which point she started screaming and swearing. I think she was about to burst into tears at this point, but the guy who set it all up decided to end it there and told her it was a desktop background. He hadn't told her about the wireless mouse so he started opening dodgy websites on her computer at which point she sussed what was going on as he was sat behind her laughing and she went mad at him. Luckily she found the funnier side of it more than anything else, but that will always stand out for me.

Set there work laptop homepage to a prank "gay" website, where the homepage has audio of two men making love :p and the inability to close the screen (need to make sure speakers are turned up)

Done this ages ago to a work colleague, really cant remember what site it was, had the office in tears when said person came back to desk and opened browser :p

There's always the classic of creating a desktop shortcut with the chrome icon and setting it to shut down the pc in 20s while popping up a window saying "3 failed login attempts have been made, all files will now be deleted". Replace their chrome icon wherever it is and watch them quickly save everything they were doing/panic.
