I'll start from the beginning so you get a better understanding of the situation. I took an old HDD from a notebook and plugged it into my PC. I installed Windows 7 on it while logged in and not through the BIOS. After turning my PC back on, an option came up to choose which HDD to boot from (I imagine because it had found Windows 7 on both) and I chose my main HDD with my account on it. Once complete, I turned my system off, unplugged the newly formatted HDD and installed it into the new laptop waiting for it. Here is the problem; now whenever I turn my PC on, I still get the option to choose from two HDD's and when I choose the one that I know doesn't exist within my system any more, it tells me an error as occurred regarding the drive being missing. Can anyone explain this and give me an answer on how to stop it? I imagine it has something to do with the BIOS?

There is only one boot record and it is located on your 'main' HD. When you installed Windows 7 on an additional HD it edited this boot record to let it know to give you the choice on start up. It still appears because even though you have removed the additional HD the boot record has not changed. This is normal.

The easiest way to fix it would be to just boot to the Windows 7 dvd and go through the startup repair. Check out this link for some step-by-step instructions.

If you are comfortable editing things yourself then you could try using MSCONFIG to remove the extra option. Type MSCONFIG into the Start menu, go to the Boot Tab, set your main one to default and delete the other. If that doesn't work (or it messes up somehow) you'll need to go through the startup repair as above.
