Computer littrally built today turned it on for first time absaloutley fine, downloaded the new hard ware drivers it asked me to, clicked on CPU z to find only 1 of my 4 cores is active so restarted went into bois to activate them and then saw the computer is going through a cycle is goes from the splash screen to a black screen that is varifiying DMI pool (or something like that) to a screen saying safe mode safe mood with networking safe mood with command prompt last known config and start windows normally it then goes back to splash screen ...i have tried all the safe moods and the last known config I then disabeld the 3 cores still ot goes in the loop

Please help me

Motherboard -gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

CPU -amd phenom II 965 (using stock heat sink)

yes it might do,not sure on amd,if you disable cool and quiet in the bios it will run full speed and maybe all cores

or stress it like you said

I can't get into to comuter to stress it it stops at

a black screen asking me to pick a safe mode last known food config start windows normally with a count down and then goes back to the splash screen

It sounds like the PC is hitting a BSOD when it tries to boot windows, but then restarts before showing you any useful information.

Try turning it on again and choose Start Windows Normally. Once you press enter, rapidly hit the F8 key until a new menu appears. There should be an option similar to 'Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure'.

This should then show you the full details on the BSOD, hopefully enabling you to narrow down the cause of your problems. Also, try starting the PC up with just one stick of RAM in and see if that makes a difference.

put the windows installation disk in and use that to restore windows to the point before you installed the drivers

So reset bios to defaults.
Make sure your peripherals are plugged in correctly.
Reformat the HD and install Windows again.

This time DO NOT install any DRIVERS via Windows Update.

Just had a xp pro pc at work start doing cyclic reboots after an update in the night. After a bit of tlc from me it turns out the hardrive was corrupt so now its a nice new SSD and all fine. Seems the staff were pressing F1 to get the HP PC to reboot when it went wonky for over a year because F1 passes the "This drive is failing" warning. DOH

Part of the problem with getting thrown so many pop up warnings that people don't understand, they just ignore them and carry on. UAC was such a good idea!
