I have the following build (nothing overclocked):

AMD R7 3700X
Gigabyte AORUS P750 750W 80 Plus Gold power supply
GeForce RTX 2070 Super
Gigabyte X570 GAMING X Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4
LG27GL850 27" NANO IPS monitor

I have recently got into playing Cod Warzone and am disappointed with the performance, or lack of, my build playing this game. To get 100+ FPS I have to run it in 1080p and low settings which is a pain as it takes a while for the scenery to render and is a big step down to the quality.

What would be my best bet in terms of upgrading this system to increase the performance when playing Warzone? Other games I play are all strategy which the system is fine with. I would probably look to upgrade in stages, rather than a complete overhaul. Looking at reasonable money, not the £1000+ GPUs for example. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I suggest waiting until the new AMD gpus are in stock (preferably the AIB versions). The 6800 would be a good contender for 1440p.

Do you use your rig for anything other than gaming? Reason I ask is Nvidia gives you 10 bit colour in professional Opengl apps, but AMD is still limited to 8 bit unless you buy a workstation card.

Hi @adrichardson81 thank you for the reply. I don't really use it for anything else other than gaming and general use. Being able to run a decent FPS and picture quality at 1440p is definitely the goal.

Benchmarks says you should be getting 100fps + at max detail but forums says that a not achievable.

Here's what a 3080 would bring you.

I did see a post when I purchased my monitor, that suggested I should get much higher FPS at higher detail, but at those settings I get 70/80 FPS max (and usually less). I did wonder if there was something causing a bottleneck but I have seen others say that is not achievable either.

Looks like a new GPU is the way forward then, once stock becomes available. Presumably CPU after that and then RAM/motherboard?

Yes new gpu but there's nothing wrong with the cpu, motherboard and ram. You could just upgrade the cpu for a slight performance boost but not sure it's worth it.

What is your ram speed ?

Mite be worth looking at that 1440p monitor but not sure what size your after but this is a good choice.

I have a decent 1440p monitor already, I just have to play at 1080p because the FPS sucks otherwise. I have Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 PC4-29200C18 3600MHz RAM.

A GPU is the only upgrade that's worth doing, RTX 3070 or Navi 6800 when that releases should improve fps or be on the hunt for the £650 RTX 3080 founders which seem to come in once a week and last about an hour if your fast.

With a 2070 super and i5 9400f i get around 100-125 fps on warzone at 1440p

Mostly high settings with low texture res and nvidia filters on to make colours pop

Also I have to set the AA to filmic2tx or whatever the end one is to stop stuff fuzzing

You should be able to get more out of that card

Oh make sure you have ray tracing off also

Hi @Mattpt I have seen several articles which suggest you can achieve the results you are getting, but whenever I have followed their settings, I end up with 70/80 FPS at 1440p. I have played around with the Nvidia control panel, the monitor and the in game settings to no avail.

I use the Nvidia filters which do help with the colour, I'm just not sure if something is not running correctly or bottlenecking me somewhere.

Seems strange, maybe use the nvidia performance overlay to see your cpu/gpu usage

Are you sure you have Raytracing turned off? And make sure you run the game in full-screen mode and close all other things running in background

You should get 100 FPS at 1440p max settings (minus ray tracing) it will go higher in some maps but i cap mine at 100 so its constant....something not right

Do the nvidia filters not hit FPS quite hard...tried them once and lost 20 FPS

Try everything at default driver wise.

Hi guys, sorry for the long delay in responding.

I played around with various settings/ resolutions and the FPS performance out of 1440p is just not where I want it to be. Having decided to get a new GPU, there is obviously a major lack of supply of 3080s and the AMD cards may never appear?! Would a 3090 be massive overkill for my build at this moment, especially as there seem to be issues with these cards and Warzone anyway?

If your looking to play warzone than the 6800XT card beats the 3080 in it. Bear in mind COD is pretty beefy game to run but even so I wouldn't be wasting money on a 3090.
