Con Air

Like Steven Seagal, I enjoy watching Nicolas Cage films just for the hilarious acting. Saying that, he has been in some cracking films, notably Lord of War.

Please Steven Segal is on another level of awful acting, think cage is ok. Some say the only thing worst than Segals acting are his jackets.

Nicolas Cage is an awful actor.

He is, and he continually proves it.

If he wasn't someone nephew he would never have got work in the first place, let alone become reemployed.

This is his best work, made better by the fact the movie is a dark comedy and no one told Cage, so he played it purely as the gung-ho action man, which suited the comedy element of the storyline. It made the film better and made Cage not look just as bad as he usually does.

I enjoyed this movie. Azzkikr!

I'm not sure how much Francis Ford being his uncle has to do with anything, he did change his name so he doesn't play on the link too much.

Con Air is fantastically funny, I've said it before and I'll say it again - whoever thought of getting Nicolas Cage to do a Southern accent in this was a genius. John Malkovich is as usual entertaining in a particularly hammy way here and Steve Buscemi is eminently watchable in the slightly creepy way he has made his own.

Nic Cage is a good actor who recognises that he's got to pay bills and as such, has accepted many shoddy roles to make ends meet.

He's had some excellent roles. Leaving Las Vegas being the main one.

+1 Just having him in a film raises it from mediocre "straight to video" film to at least having a week or so in an inner city cinema. You could argue that he probably just loves making films and isn't too fussed whether anyone likes them. He has bee in some right howlers but also in some half decent films.

Just by looking at the cover of Bangkok Dangerous tells me all I need to know about that film. :)

City of Angels was good, along with Face/Off, Con Air, The Rock and Snake Eyes.

Not cinematic masterpieces, but more enjoyable than a large chunk of movies that exist imo.

You might have a point tbh, but Cage could hardly be singled out for that distinction. Im sure there are dozens of actors that got a job because they knew someone who knew someone etc. Very important in any entertainment industry where reputation matters. So he must be doing something right with the way he works/acts.

He's an awful actor, let's all be honest. But he does somehow end up in some great films Rock, Con Air, Face Off amonst others.

He takes himself so seriously which makes some great, if unintentional, film moments. When he goes all action Jackson in that brawl in the car park at the start of con air when he kills the guy was so cringeworthy :p

nicholas cage is one of the best actors to ever grace the screen with his pressence.

some of you are just jealous of his looks
