The end of an era. Still beautiful after all these years :-

Your up late spie.

I've driven under the flight path as one has been taken off - almost took the windows out in the car.

Never had the chance to fly on one.. had plenty of 12-13 hour normal flights tho :/

last flights in october or somesuch aint it? me and a couple of mates are trying to see about going for a weekend to paris or something on concorde so we can say we did it.. any ideas on prices for that sort of thing perchance?

I was going to make a post about Concorde about 30 mins ago, great minds think alike eh?

Was just doing some research on it, thought it quite interesting that Concorde goes at max speed of Mach 2.01 (1350mph) whereas F-22 Raptor fighter jets go at max Mach 1.8!

Then again I suppose air resisitance at 60,000feet must be pretty minimal.

Tis a real shame for people like me.

I've always wanted to fly Concorde, just once. Just to experience it.

I was planning on saving up sometime for a trip.

Ah well.

Another thing to add to my "memory book".

for anyone interested, BA is running a special discount promotion on concorde tickets (see ba.co.uk) which offers them at a much lower price. I've got bragging rights of being on one a few years ago (no, i can't afford the tickets, BA had to upgrade us after a huge mistake by them), go on Mr Spie, a once in a lifetime opportunity

Same here Bod, the list of things I want to do at least once in my lifetime are slowly being taken away.

Watch a shuttle launch - can't imagine shuttles flying for much longer to be honest.
Concorde - No chance now, not unless I win a million pounds in the next couple of months.

I've been on concorde... but only the one sitting in Duxford air museum :(

Already booked Mr Kanes. I'm not missing my once in a lifetime chance

Special Concorde fairs are here, but there are only 1000 tickets and demand, ironically, is high.

concorde only goes from London>new york and back again usually, i'm not sure if they'd bother running london>paris considering you can do it in an hour on the train or just go first class

yep, they might be extending that offer now as most of the ny>london tickets have already gone, so there is a demand at the right price.

I hope you're doing things the right way and staying in a top hotel too? personal recommendations of the Plaza and Astoria, who also have special offers running during that time.

Enjoy it, take off is certainly an experience, also see if you can be allowed your camera on board, one thing i regret was not taking a picture when you're high enough to see the curvature of the earth from the window

Plaza

Waldorf Astoria

For some reason i found the Plaza site very hard to find, lot's of places trying to catch in on the name. The Astoria was cheaper and the service was the same, but the oak room in the Plaza is magnificent (even if they didn't allow me to drink  )

Recently the concorde fleet were fitted out with Boeing Conexxion equipment, which allows you internet access from your seat. Couple this with a laptop power supply in the armrest, we expect a post from onboard ;)

Let me guess the missus likes the idea of shopping in New York? or aren't you taking her :p

i've got the privaledge of stopping over in NY, 3 times this year. The phrase 'a nice place to visit but i wouldn't want to live there' springs to mind. But enjoy yourself and if you need any info i'm sure there's a wealth of people who can help from the forums

Oh ,dilemmas , would so much love to be on one of these flights but 2 grand per person has arrived at a very inopportune time , would love to be on one of those flights , something to tell the grandkids about :)
