Ah, it really is an awesome sight. There was a program on Discovery a few days ago. Went through the history of concorde and what not, very interesting stuff. Enjoy your flight Spie, well worth doing while you still can.

Thank you for the info Mr Kanes. This will be my 3rd visit to Manhattan, and I hope my best. I really love the diversity of the place. My wife and I will be there for 6 nights including the 4th July celebrations.

I promise you this - if I can connect my laptop whilst at 60,000 feet, I'll do a webcam shot and post it on the forums. Just need to find out what their technical requirements are for connection.

:) Gottal also love the designation Speedbird 1 as well :)

lovely plane, few years ago at Farnborough, one ones lined up on the taxiway while one did a flyover :) magnificent

I was well suited :) - would have loved to have gone on one

Enabled RJ-45 Terminated Ethernet interface or configured and operational 802.11b protocol << is how they connect sir

"An antennae that will send and receive the signals from a satellite has been fitted to the outside of the aircraft. The server, through which the data is transferred, resides in an equipment rack fitted into the ceiling of the aircraft. More than 15,000 feet of cabling will run through the internal walls of the fuselage, into the seats, and up to the internet connection points in the arm rests in First and World Traveller Plus and by the laptop plug in the Club World flat beds"

There's plenty to see, have a good time

Just need an RJ45 cable m8 - think a patch or x-over, not sure, you can buy/hire one from them on the plane for h'extortinate price no doubt :)

its a simple rj-45 socket from what I can tell from flying business class on a 747-400 in March :) beaten to it by Kanes :(

Spie s'ah, are you doing Concorde return?

I may be a cheapo and fly first class commercial on the way back :p

May take away from the whole experience though :/

Well, my "special occasion" reserve credit card has just seen some major action:eek:

Flying Concorde is something I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember, so I couldn't refuse the once-in-a-lifetime chance. Only flying Concorde one-way and keeping all other costs to an absolute minimum, as my finances are already a bit stretched:eek:

Now I've just got to pay for the USA holiday I'd already booked for later in the year - third

Hmm, I'm flying over to NY or Philly in Octoboer. No way I can afford COncorde though. Is a sad loss of a fine aircraft. Like others, the only one I've been on is at Duxford...

Didn't Branson or someone offer to buy the entire fleet for £1? I'm sure HE could make it profitable!

As we the British taxpayers paid for the development of Concorde, I think that if Branson is serious, the government should step in and make a compulsory purchase order to keep this magnificent plane flying.

It's a damn shame that she is being retired :(

Did anyone read Jeremy Clarkson's column in The Sun about it today? It was excellent.

JC has a column in The Sun?

Please, no? Tell me it cannot be?

JC is my favourite celebrity by a long way. The Sun is a gutter-press newspaper fit for use only as toilet roll. I was hoping the two would never meet :(

I took the "cheaper" option of Concorde there, Club-World back. I'm happy with that

I hope you have an excellent time in the States Mr Spie! If you pull off the webcam shot......I would be so impressed! :p

It is a crying shame that they are retiring concorde! It has to be with out a shadow of a doubt the most significant aeronautica breakthrough of the last century!

I just wish I could afford a ticket!:(

Tumbler^

I better start planning the bank robbery now. ;)

It is sad to see this fine aircraft go to the big airport in the sky, lets just hope some big shot saves it. Nothing has ever come close to Concorde in the way of competition and nothing will, at least for the forseeable future.

3 hours in Concorde or 16 hours in a PA28. Decisions decisions. :D
