Confess your gaming sins...

I suppose for me it's the fact in 2005 I gave away my gaming PC to my Dad and got an Xbox 360 and then PS3 and then Xbox One and then PS4. So for 12 years I've been gaming on consoles but buying Steam games in the sales right from Half Life in 2004 all the way up to The Witcher 3 last week. Now 12 years later, I've took back that same gaming PC from 2005 but with a better GPU (albeit bottlenecked by the CPU) but it can still play a fair chunk of the older games like Half Life 2, Portal, etc.

Problem is... I can't be arsed playing them. I get bored after 10 minutes! So it seems I've wasted a shed load of money buying PC games that either I currently can't play or don't want to play and I'm now in two minds whether to buy a new gaming PC or get the Xbox One X and a 4K tele. Shucks.

I don't like games with an overly sunny environment. If they don't have a good mix of weather effects that include a lot of rain, and I can't mod it for more rain, then I won't enjoy it much. I love that typical miserable, rainy environment... To the point where I fall asleep each night listening to a rain app on my phone. :o

For example, the amount of effort I had to put in to changing the weather in Far Cry 3 was ridiculous. Messing around with hex codes and all this stuff just to keep the storms on for longer.

Not a sin, but I have never played World of Warcraft at all.

I also didn't enjoy Mass Effect.

Apart from a matter of a few minutes in a free trial, I haven't played WoW either.

I've tried at least four times in the past to get into ME, but couldn't. I thought the second was fair, though.

Nice to see I am not the only one, I was beginning to feel like I was!

I also hold no interest in Skyrim or The Witcher 3.

1) I had to play the FEAR games with no sound.
2) System Shock 2 is my favourite game yet I've never completed it. Life always blocks me.
3) It took over a year for me to find the last bottle on Zelda A link to the past. (T'was under the bridge)

My gaming sin is that I have platinum trophies for Farming Simulator 2015 and 2017 :)

Bah...living in Spalding you can do the real thing! ;)

God forbid a food production simulator is brought out!

My crime? I usually end up buying most titles on release and barely touch them for months and when I do I could have picked them up significantly cheaper if I had waited.

As a fully middle aged man I played Life is Strange from start to finish - and liked it :(

My son challenged me to a new RTS we could play - we chose Company of Heroes. The deal was neither of us would play it until we played against each other. I installed it a week early to learn how to play then uninstalled it just so I could beat my 15 year old son :D

I renewed a Runescape 3 subscription for 3 months after being away for several years.

Felt horrible a month in and realised why I stopped playing it.

I hate multiplayer gaming in general. Ok, I've played my share of CS, and Wolfenstien: ET back in the day and even got into WoW for a while, but generally speaking if any game relies heavily on MP (including co-op) I just ignore it.

I can't stand racing games or beat-em-ups.

I have no interest in sports games despite being a farily keen football and cricket fan (Football Manager/Champ Manager have been the only exceptions, but even then the last one I played was FM2012).

I usually eschew platform games, and any scrolling shooter style games.

I find tower defense games almost universally dull and repetitive.

I have "rogue-like" as the only game label to screen out in my Steam queue. Just can't abide the repetition and starting from scratch repeatedly.

I will almost never use a controller. Even for those games where it's strongly recommended I will persist with M&KB as long as possible. Any games where a controller is really essential I will just skip.

1. I've never ever finished a single game I've played...if I was an emoji I'd be so meh! it's untrue. Even those I loved I got bored of before I could finish them. I very nearly finished a tomb raider but I was using the walkthrough guide

2. I don't class myself as a gamer (surely a gaming sin!), I'm a complete petrolhead who would love to race cars irl but for a lack of money, time, and talent. I therefore only play racing games as a way of pretending to be a racer whilst preserving my bank account, my family time and my physical wellbeing...

3. I bought a PS4 and G29 wheel and I've hardly ever used them since I got the Rift...it's just not the same, I can't go back.

4. I like space (cockpit) sim games, but I have all the dogfighting skills of a sloth, I'm so slow I could probably shoot myself...I usually end up being a trader, then it just gets boring quickly.

Have had Witcher 3 and dlc since release but still haven't completed it. I played 70 hours on release and got to skellige but ended up formatting my pc and forgot to keep my save. Reading the books and trying another playthrough. Currently 20 hours clocked but haven't touched it for about 4 weeks. Enjoying the books more.

I prefer controller to mouse and keyboard for everything that isn't FPS.

I absolutely detest people that leave their game running when afk and claim to have thousands of hours on it in Steam. No idea why, just winds me up. This is my most pathetic annoyance I have.

I've never completed Skyrim, own it on every platform it's been on (soon to include the Switch), collectively have thousands of hours in it... But never got past the Thalmor party in the main quest.

That's it I think?

Oh... I own Fable 2 collectors edition for the 360... Greatest sin of all time.

1. when gaming with headset on i say yes to everything the Wife says (so far been on 2 holidays and got a new Car :( )

2. Hate the game the witcher 3

3 bought a 4670k CPU never really overclocked it (got a 8600k running at 4.6 ATM)

Good thread!

Never played any Half Life game, despite owning them

Never played Skyrim, despite owning it

Never played an Assassins Creed game, despite owning 3 of them

Never played any Fallout game

Can’t, and won’t play any RPG that isn’t Zelda

I’m still playing Football Manager 2012

I think Counter Strike is the worse FPS I have ever played

I owned the original Homefront on 3 platforms, xb360, PS3 and PC. The game was flawed, but amazing

Can’t stand Mobo’s and I have no idea why in God’s name there so popular, there so dam boring!

I once, drunkenly, paid for a microtransation in a EA mobile game (Simpson’s Tapped out)

Despite hating loot boxes and DLC, I developed an unhealthy obsession for skins in Rust, spent over £70 on them.. whilst the game cost me £4 from a key site

I like the Xbox app on Windows 10 and I used it to launch ALL my PC games for over 6 months (I have since quit this, don’t hate!)

I have no idea why people sit at there PC and watch someone else play a game on Twitch, it’s ridiculous, play it yourself!

Since buying an Oculus Rift in the summer I have only played 2 non VR games, FM12 and PUBG and currently have no interest in buying any ‘pancake’ game again

I feel better
