 3dMark results are lower when i O.C. Asus Turbo GTX 1080 Ti 11GB

Hi guys. Read this whole thread as I am in the same situation as OP. Might be opening a closed case here, just thought I’d shed light from a similar perspective. Exact same GPU (Asus Turbo 1080 ti) and Waterblock (Bykski). And the same problem, stuck on idle and default clock speed.

I guess that’s all. Except maybe asking whether I should give up as well? Is there anything else to try, really? I had mine since purchase, but unfortunately never checked the clock speed before I watercooled it. I’ve tried basically everything.

Seems like a very rare case this.
Other than flashing a bios
From a different 1080ti
Think everything else was done
So that's only option
I can think of

Motherboard is also the same... Asus ROG Strix Z270E Gaming. I thought I had tested with another 1080ti bios, however, the terminal messages came so quickly I couldn’t read then. When I tried anew, however, I saw that I got this error message, saying it noted how they differed: «Firmware image PCI Subsystem ID does not match adapter PCI...»

I also read some people not managing to use theirs afterwards, but if I keep a copy of my BIOS, I should be fine and can always revert? I found a version of NVFlash that apparently will install the incorrect BIOS.

Thanks guys.

I suppose my card might have been like this from the beginning...? Not sure. Pity to fins out just after the warranty was burst haha. I bought if from a Norwegian store called Komplett.no, about 1 and a half year ago I think, in a pre-built PC.

And how and why did you think to try / check this right now? Maybe im begin paranoic but for me this sounds more like...the seller of mine trying to get "cover".

Hehe, yeah I get why you are suspicious. In my case, no one else is to blame. I did not check any Mhz measurement because the stock cooler was so **** I never thought I’d overclock before changing to water.

Considering that i sold it and the new owner confirmed already the problem (on air blower)....and i repeat myself, mine was malfunctioning no matter what cooling system, water or air. So ..yes, i think im not paranoic.
Can you please post a screenshot with yours, that we to be able to see the date as well and something to proof its your(s)?

If he already admitted it, why would he come here through an alias to get «cover?»

Anyways, of course, I’ll provide proof—I’m grateful to learn from this thread although it was a sad ending. Hopefully it can continue and maybe a fix can be made through different bios. I really feel your pain man, it sucked saving up $500+ for a watercooling system only to make it worse, or at any rate, not better.

Here are some photos I just posted to Imgur for you of my PC with the Bykski and Asus as well as GPU-Z showing Idle and default clock speeds under load: https://imgur.com/a/zxa5W5w

Hi everyone, I hope for the possibility of maybe reviving this thread, as I have some new information.
Another user contacted me who saw this thread, who had the same problem with the same GPU (no watercooling.)
He flashed a gpu bios with a higher default clock speed, and it worked! However, it is still stuck in "idle" and is not turboboosting.
The question, then, is: what is the highest possible bios clock speed that can be found?

Thank you guys

Hi Skeeter, the problem of overclocking is still not solved, he is just able to raise the default clock speed higher through flashing a different bios.
Not keen on putting it to rest just yet, as we just managed to up the card almost 100Mhz.

Perhaps someone knows of a good gpu bios to flash on it? Does anyone have any ideas, as this seems to be an approach that works?
