Remember those 4.0/4.1ghz 1700's
I don't tbh, link?
Jim has pretty much no proof no base this video on yet he runs it up the flag pole.
They were all over the review sites/videos.

Guess my 5.1 retail is a binned unit too![]()

I was genuinely asking as the ones I saw where of the 1800 being tested
The only problem I have with his analysis is that he assumes that if a non-delidded chip can do 5.1 GHz, it'll do 5.2 GHz when delidded. That doesn't make any sense since the chip might be voltage limited rather than temperature limited. He does partially address this though when he takes the "worst case scenario" stance at the end, and he does at least talk about the different voltages each had to use. There are definitely some chips in that bunch that would easily qualify for "golden sample" status.

Both intel and AMD are guilty of sending binned CPUs to reviewers. There a very few here that have a 1700 doing 4ghz yet a ton of reviewers on launch showing 4.0 was easy.
Same applies to the 8700k. Its just another clickbait video from Jim, nothing to see here.
Well first of all where is your data to backup those claims?
Second, 3.9 to 4Ghz was what was commonly achieved by reviewers, so while there is no reason to think AMD didn't send binned samples, perhaps they did, your own number suggest they didn't, do you want to rethink it? your numbers say 67 to 97% reach 3.9 to 4Ghz...
