ConLake Returns - Golden Sample 8700K's.

There could be any number of motives, trying to pin down why is impossible and detracts from the meat of the argument.

AMD, Intel, nVidia.... do they want to show off their products in the best light? Yes or no?

That is the question Jim tried to answer, yes they do, was his conclusion, Steve has a counter argument that i think is flawed.

Except Jim only ever makes these kind of videos about intel and nvidia.........

He makes them about all three, he has made a lot of videos about Intel Anti Trust lawsuites from the past and on going because, well, there are a lot of anti trust lawsuits Intel has and still contends with.

AMD's problem is they are not competing in the GPU world, he has made critical videos about that and i agree with them all.

How many videos about AMD have derogatory titles? Its one thing to criticize a product and another to call it a con.

Again, for you its not about the argument or even the context of the argument, to you it is yet again about personalities, he's an AMD fanboy right?

Can't argue with anything they say? attack them as a person.

Why is there a need for such a test anyway?

We know CPUs sit on a bell curve with regards to overclockability.
We know the limits of the 8700K.
We know most review sites have CPUs at that limit.

Ergo, we know review sites have received an unrealistically large number of CPUs at the high end of the bell curve.

And no body really cares, its just understood to be so and that's that.

So yeah why Steve felt the need to step into this and go out of his way to prove "no they don't send us binned chips", no, yeah they do Steve, pull the other one.

Jim needs to sort himself out. The clickbait titles are embarrassing and he needs at least some impartiality. He also created an essentially pointless video with the clickbait title.

Steve’s testing is not ideal but I don’t think there is any deception at play. I feel the 8700k is just not as bad as people try to portray it.

He's done more to disprove that theory than you have. You are the one fighting the evidence in front of you. It would seem that you are the fanboy.

Its not a bad CPU at all, its a good CPU, where do you see people "portraying it as bad" ?

Conlake kind of gives it away.

Did you ever actually read the posts and get round to watching the video ?
The conclusion "Adored" came up with was a completely obvious conclusion and was never going to be any different. Even going back to the days of Wolfdale, some chips did 5ghz + most didn't. At the time, mine did but only because it was under phase. That same 8500 would never have got anywhere near the clock i was running it had it been even under water let alone air. Of course reviewers get cherry picked chips, always have done and always will do. It's up to us as informed users of these chips to accept that and take launch reviews with the big dose of salt they deserve. Amd or Intel, it don't matter.

I have already spoke about this. This is nothing new yet there seems to be a push just because Jim made a video on it.
Charlatan.

What I got out of it was more of a protecting the consumer type thing.

Basically he is saying it's a myth that you are guaranteed to get super high clocks from these chips like you are seeing in the review sites unless you delid them.

It's not necessarily a dig at Intel as such but it's better for the consumer to know that if you are looking to get the very best out of these chips, you will almost certainly need expensive cooling and warranty voiding modifications.

Its what good tech journalists used to do, now no one does, its a very touchy subject these days.

And that's not good for anyone.

If you didn't already know this then you shouldn't be looking at an 8700k imo.
There are tons of videos and reviews showing that these get hot. The conlake title is just a clickable title like 90% of his videos.
