connecting ipod in car

Cool unit, but save the fitting costs by buying at Halfrauds...

What you save on the PP you will easily spend on fitting costs elsewhere

:D

Not exactly hard to fit a headunit tbh! Would rather do myself than have halfords muppets doing it!

i know nothing about fitting, or cars for that matter..so even halfords would do a better job i reckon :D

Fitting a headunit is easy, getting factory fit ones out can be a real pain tho...

Those muppets do them everyday, and muppet or not, they will do a much better job than most.. Proper ISO adapters, correct tools..

:D

Well If you buy the correct ISO adapter when you buy the stereo along with the correct tools to remove the existing unit then it really isn't hard. Hardest one I have fitted is one of those alpine ones that wants a direct connection to the battery!

For example that Pioneer 70BT is £399.99 in my local halfords, its £250 on bass-junkies. So I told my friend to buy it online and I'd fit it. This is saving her £150 - quite a sizeable amount!

But your talking about a saxo though, fitting it to a VAG car or a (Proper car) can require more effort, oftern parts of the dash cover the edges of the unit so to get the tools in you need to remove part of the dash face or alloy trim etc.

In the saxo its a case of 4 pins pull the unit out unplug the ISO and antenna rip the cage out new cage in plug in the ISO / Antenna slide unit back in a thats it.

Exactly, I was quoted £200 to fit a new HU in a primera, Halfrauds did i for free and made an excellent job...

A 10 yr old could fit one in a saxo..

:D

PS. If you damage the wiring and her car goes up in smoke, what comeback does she have on you?

I've done it in several cars, not just my own! Pug 106, Pug 306, mk1 clio, mk2 clio, Ford Ka, Rover 400, Corsa and a Saab 9-5. Although I haven't done it in a VAG car, but I doubt its that hard.

Well I'm not going to, I fitted her last one fine! :)

If you got to Freemans catalogue (no competitor i think) then it's £99 inc fitting at your home.

Im going to get one

link - HERE
I wana thank you for that link, some very nice clothes on there.

well, have had a rethink. My thinking is if im planning on spending £100 on the icelink, might aswell spend a bit more on a new headunit.
I have a mate who can arrange fitting of a headunit for me.. So, requirements are: should be a cd player, preferably cassette and connection to ipod too. I can stretch to £250.
What are my options?

Why do you want a cassette? If you have a changer then I most probably won't work with your new headunit.

Take a look on here

Something like this would be my choice :)

Has anyone ever tried to get an ipod/other mp3 player hooked up to a ford cd player.

Is it possible?

Yes I've done it myself in my Mondeo. I bought an adaptor made by a company called Connects 2. This plugs into the CD changer port in the back of the headunit and connects to the ipod through the headphone socket.

does that work with apple ipod shuffles? I have one but it doesn't have the connector thingy ma jiggy at the bottom like other ipods, but it does say compatible with all ipods.
