Connecting to Amp via 5m SPDIF

Need to connect the pc to my Onkyo which is 4m away and also feed the PJ which is 4m the other way :rolleyes:

Plan is to connect to the PJ via HDMI and the amp via a 5m TOSLINK, does the signal degrade much over these distances and is there any better way of doing this?

I don't know about the toslink or if there is a better way (this to me sounds pretty good) but I have ran my tv from a 10m HDMI cable & it still looked great.

Its fibre-optic, there will be no degradation. I think there's a recommendation of using a signal booster for over 10m, but in reality its complete bs on any modern equipment.

My pc is connected to my home cinema over a 15m TOSLINK. No issues.
