Conroe now available from OcUK!

I'm not at all happy about this, on these forums last week gibbo came on here and said that the OEM E6300's were in stock but could not be shipped till monday because of INTEL, i ring up today to be told the order will ship today only to be told later on today that they arent in stock and have no idea when they will be arriving. Seems to me like gibbo has being telly pork pies. I was also told on friday that i would be one of the people to have the oem e6300's ship today. now they say they have no idea when they are getting them even though there site says wednesday. + they took the money out of me account quick enough to. All of this seems very wrong and am now beginning to understand why ocuk get flammed so much over on xs. gonna be contacting trading standards tomorrow to see exactly were i stand with all of this.

no offence mate but intel have no time for comsumer complaints in regards to this kind of matter, you be lucky to even get a reply, I use to work as a small distributor selling intel only products in my local area to companys and regular consumers and they barely had the time to listen me when there was any problems, it helps if you have an ipi account with them tho.

Maybe so but me really cheesed off and have to vent my frustration, its very annoying trying to share your 12 year old brothers pc for 6 weeks so far!!

Thanks for that. I'm thinking of going with the 6300 OEM now instead of waiting for the E6600 retail, given I'm ordering a HSF to go with it anyway.

Will there be much difference in gaming performance, once its overclocked?

I'm torn to be honest, what to believe, because so far OCuk haven't exactly been truthful about anything they've said. Is this whole 'not out yet' thing here just to cover up shortages etc? Or is it true? Either way I wish I'd ordered from somewhere else or not ordered at all.

Why aren't we being given any certainties? I can handle waiting for my product, but I can't handle not knowing about my products' availablity despite having the money being removed from my bank.

I wont carry on because I know it will only get deleted but before you delete my post know this; the handling of the current affair is doing a lot more damage than any politely vented post could ever do.

Besides, what makes the E6600 so different to the other chips that are out already? The X6800, E6300, seems convenient that it's the most popular and the median priced product that wont be released yet (seemingly until the cheapest and most expensive items have been offloaded).

Again, I'm not taking digs at OCuk, I'd just like at least a few paragraphs of information to show me why Intel's "get it here first (and early)" promise to OCuk has gone out the window.

IF this post is going to be deleted then at least leave the writing in bold :(

There is an updated thread dedicated to Conroe updates, please read it!

If we have had just 10 pieces of stock arrive we would have mentioned it like we always do.

The message to us via Intel and its distributors as of today is some X6800's have shipped but other chips won't be shipping until early-mid Auguest with the possibilities of OEM been sooner. Thats literally all we know, I can't tell you any more..........

Thanks, taking a read now. Guess I'm just disappointed that the phone-guy got my hopes up...just have to hope that my other PC gets repaired tomorrow.

...by Mon 4th September I expect to be able to order an E6600 for under £200 inc. We'll see in 10 weeks I guess. That'll be some 4 week after release so it should be clear by then which motherboards are worth getting as well.

Well, it looks like under £200 was a bit optimistic! OcUK's launch price was £264.32 inc for the E6600. It's now £232.64 so we're half way there to under £200 inc. A few other places are a little cheaper but nowhere seems significantly under £220.

I expect the slow availability as stopped the prices falling as quick as I had thought. How long has the E6600 been widely available?

It probably won't happen. CPU price drops tend to happen every 6 months, this product is only 2 months old. Plus the dollar rate cannot get much more in our favour as its already amazing which is mainly the reason why the prices have come down quite a bit too, plus now Etailors make less margin due to product now been widely available.
