Hey guys im planing to buy a new processer in the incomming weeks i was told to wait for the new conroe extreme edition as it was more efficent and could overclock pretty well. Does anyone have any idea when it will be released on ocuk or in the uk, also when are the compatiable motherboards being released.

A reply would be much appercaited

Thanks Pajaman

I think the conroes are being released on the 23rd of july...
have a peek at prvious threads tho cos its been talked about

Yup 23rd July... hopefully by early July we'll know whether this is a date we'll actually see the chips here on OcUK or if there is a delay whilst the main OEM builders get them :o

I read an interview with one of the intel execs and the are going to focus on getting the chips to the oem builders first and then concentrate on Retail boxes later.
So I think they will be pretty scarce on release day and will be priced at a premium. A lot of hype has been generated by these chips and people are keen to buy. Demand cannot not meet supply meaning price premiums.

Will try and dig out the interview.

sucks for most of us if their gona be giving them to oem first and we'l ahve less chips.
At the start of this year i was gona upgrade to the x2's after my exams, then i heard about conroe and now im waiting till july or maybe longer..

I was going to upgrade to amd x2 too and i heard about conroe but then i decided just get amd rite now since ill have to wait for conroe and technology is ever changing anyway, you could wait for forever and a day and i dont want the best of the best anyways :D

i didn't think they'de be telling the likes of Dell to wait some how. :p

Intels production capacity is huge. Surely they'll be able to meet demand in all sectors.

They flamin well better do, I'm on onboard graphics and temporary sempron CPU in the meantime.
