Considering a scooby, when did they get a 6 speed box?

yes its an MY05 STI PPP from a main dealer who were the original supplier. Good condition, 38k miles.. I didn't see the issue tbh.

They just reduced it from £14k which I know from looking is way overpriced but I thought having seen smaller dealers with them at 10-11k that 12k from a main dealer with a 12 month warranty and 6% finance wasn't too shabby.

Head started fighting back over heart though and I've started wondering if I'd find it a bit tedious as an everyday cruiser...

hah i'm getting a week out of a tank in the WRX which is keeping me happy for now.

No idea if mpg gets worse/better after a remap as that'll be coming some time this year I expect.

They're really not hard to live with day to day, unless of course you fit a big exhaust, and are put off by filling up every other day :D

i don't pay for my petrol so thats not too much of a concern although it is vaguely irritating having to fill up constantly. How many miles do you get out of a full tank with normal driving?

Mine got better after a remap although that was on a classic - usually you'll get a bit more mpg. My UK car was really good on fuel and could easily do over 30MPG. My RA drank it in similar fashion to my current 4.0L Jeep!

That deal for the MY05 STI sounds very good. 12 month Subaru dealer warranty - they know the car and the finance is 6%.

If you don't mind me asking how does the finance bit work - have you stumped up a wodge and they fund the rest?

I'm seriously considering another (I was too hasty to sell my last one) but I'm more of a classic man.

With the tank at full, I filled up when it hit the empty line, which was between 200 miles (spirited) to 230 miles (motorway). At the empty line, there is still another 10 litres in reserve.

I'm missing my car now that it's gone, itching for another one but at the same time want to perhaps progress to the next level. Although the Scooby hits the spot that others don't somehow.

How does MPG compare to the Clio, Ev0?

Unsurprisingly it's worse :p

Best I've got out of a tnak was about 32mpg on a motoway run, a normal week is usually high 20s.

What I do notice with this car is when you do drive more enthusiastically the mpg takes a relatively bigger dive than in the Clio.

But saying that the Clio was just great on fuel, over 40mpg on a motorway run no problems and still gave good mpg when going for it.

As much as I like the Impreza it's not as fun as the Clio.

they don't fund any of it, I give them my car which we agree is worth about £6k, give them £1k case then effectively borrow £5k over 4 years which costs about £130 a month.

230 miles to a tank is worse than my Focus ST which according to the trip computer averages about 25mpg although to be fair it has a miles left option and I can get 250 round town and up to 320 motorway miles from brimmed to saying 0 miles left.

Thats a bit of a concern, I do find it quite tiresome filling up every few days.

Hmm... I take it thats a £60 tank like my focus?

HI there

Gotta say its interesting reading this, I never knew there were so many different versions.

For me my favourite is I think the one you call Hawkeye, the one before they turned them into carp hatchbacks.

Those Type RA's do look very nice, so whats different about them?
What is the S204 then?

I've been in Scoobies, but my last Scooby I drove was a P1, people who have had Scoobs who go out in the EVO say the EVO is better, but I think the differences must be very small but one thing for sure Scoobies sound a lot better than EVO's, well certainly a lot better than the EVO X. :)

Gibbo, It's a crazy minefield the number of different versions that are available.

I'm looking to buy a scooby in the next week or so. There are a few that I like.

I'm looking for a 2002/2003 WRX model. Looking at spending around the £5k to £5.5k mark on one.

Yeah looks that way m8, from reading this though seem 2005 onwards are the ones to get?

Maybe, but I don't have enough funds towards a 2005+ scooby.

As you know the 2 kids and wife steal most of my money.

Ah yes this is very true, just gotta keep scouring Scooby forums and PistonHeads m8 and hope that a really clean, unmolested and preferably low mileage crops up at a bargain price. :)

Stands for Race Adapted IIRC. They're the hardcore ones: no sound-proofing, thin glass, no stereo or air-con, very close ratio gearbox (meaning absurd revs for top speed), etc. Not comfortable, but mentally fast.

The S204 was a fairly hardcore limited edition. If you go looking for one just make sure you can tell the genuine article from the many fakes. I believe it should have a metal plaque identifying the number, but I'm not sure.

Wanna buy a 400bhp bugeye?

I find the EVO gearbox to close ratio, I mean 85mph is 4000rpm in top gear, bloody annoying, shame they did not fit a 6th gear. :(

Are these Scoobs even shorter on the ratios then and just how fast are they, am guessing they are pretty lightweight?
