Considering going to raid

Hi, Since iv got a bit of spare cash to upgrade my system, as the haswell and new nvidia cards have not offered me anything this year worth upgrading to from my sandybridge system. Im looking perhaps at upgrading my M4 128GB SSD
Of course I could get a 240GB version ect, which I do keep an eye out for on the daily deals.
However Im considering raid as a more cost effective option, buying a second 128GB version, Am i right in thinking it will make things more faster, though that"s not necessary my priority.
But more importantly do I have to reinstall everything and start all my programs and apps all over again , or is it just a case of plugging it in, making a few clicks in the bios ect which is a z77 ud5 gigabyte ?
 
- On benchmarks it will be faster, but you won't notice the difference
- Will double your chances of losing everything (twice as likely that one of the drives will die, taking all the data of both drives with it)
- Will make boot times a lot longer
- No easy way of migrating your existing setup
 
Most people dont recommend RAID for SSD's as for one, you wont see a difference and it just doubles your chances of corruption.
Its noted that higher capacity SSDs perform better than the same model with a smaller capacity.

I think Gigabyte boards have somme sort of software for adding drives to create / a bigger RAID stripe. However, id stay away from this and just get a larger SSD and sell it on the bay
 
I wouldnt raid your system drive tbh, no reason to, and as mentioned above, just doubles chances of a failure.

Redundancy is my main reason for raiding, with performance being a reason only for my recording drive.

My boot times SUCK now though, my add in raid card, the onboard raid controller, and the onboard sata iii controller all have to boot and each one adds 5-10 seconds to the boot time :(
