Console player looking to buy first gaming pc

If building yourself something like this would fit the bill, although it's an iffy time to buy due to upcoming GPU availability and launches:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,351.87 (includes delivery: £11.98)

Went M-ATX as a personal preference, I find the smaller form factor preferable. You could save £40 and opt for the 7600 instead, the 9600X averages out at a few percent faster, but there is the odd game that sees uplift closer to 20-30%, that said the CPU tends to matter less at higher resolutions such as 4K. As a note, you can find Windows licences for around £10-20, but you can also run without one and only lose minor functionality with the O/S.

You won't be gaming at 8K, but you should be able to run 4K depending on the title, especially with FSR/XeSS upscaling etc. I do find that Nvidia do a better job with upscaling tech in the form of DLSS, I would advise waiting until the 20th and trying your luck at getting the new 5070ti.

That or the new AMD cards which I believe are due sometime in March.

Wow, thanks for all the info. I think I'm going to have to do a bit of reading.

Building is pretty straight forward now and it does result in your getting more for your money, as well as higher quality parts. You just need to take your time and ask questions when unsure, there's plenty of detailed build guides out there on youtube etc.

Another option is get OCUK to build it for you.

You have to pay for it (Unsure of costs) but it saves you not buying a pre build system and you still get the PC\hardware you want

maybe I have missed it but it seems everyone is recommending builds and not asked what resolution you are playing it.

My honest take is, just sell you PS5 and buy PS5 pro, most big titles are on ps5 and not worth buying a low end PC for gaming and having had both the ps5 Pro does decent job. But if you must have a pc then decide what resolution you are playing it first, if its 4k then you really need to spend most of your budget on decent GPU and CPU. I would also advise waiting for AMD 9070XT gpu that should release sometime march this year, that should provide your with good 4k card for decent price so the hope is and should be within your budget basically you get better raster and raytracing performance, its hard to predict the GPU market at the moment its in some weird state. You have a PS5 and can wait 1 month surely without much stress then you get more performance for the price you are paying now.

having said that Gray2233 build is quite decent.

Understandable, but the problem is having a 8K TV, to drive at that native, or use scaling will require high end PC

Might actually be better (and cheaper) to buy a 1440p monitor, you'll get better framerates. Watch this

It’s not a problem as there’s no need to use 8K. I use 1440p a lot on my 4K TV and the difference in graphical quality and sharpness is negligible.

OP - don’t get hung up on running games at 8K or even 4K. Your games will look great at 1440p and once you’ve read up on different settings you can look into the various upscaling options available

Im not lolking for 8k gaming, id be more than happy with 4k, its just what i have in the livingroom. Im just looking into pc gaming as theres more titles available that look good bodycam/delta force/kingmaker etc ive not bought a ps5 game in a while. Does anybody have a recommendation for a mid range gaming keyboard and mouse? I've had look and there's so many, just wondered what people are using? Also, does it take a bit of getting used to to swap from controller to keyboard and mouse? Thanks

Happy with my tecware phantom keyboard. Brown switches, removeable, heavy base. RGB although I'd set to a single fixed red colour

Under £40 also
