Im becoming slightly overwhelmed by the constant barrage of buy this buy that, the televison radio etc, advertising is definately more in your face now, i cant even open a magazine without a ton of junkmail falling out.
Even walking across town there are these annoying student types harassing people for a so called good cause?
It just seems all a bit too much now, and with the onset of xmas, oh dear god:(
I must admit ive have fallen into the hype trap quite a lot, but now have managed to reign myself in, my god it takes a lot of willpower though.

Advertising is 99% invasive, annoying guff and 1% actually useful stuff.

That rhymed, yo.

It's only going to get worse on the net now, too :(

i agree it will get worse how about those ********! that ring you up and leave those messages about debt etc:(
well done about the ryhme, your a poet and didnt know it.

I came across a term used by ******, gipseys etc refering to the general public as gourgers and I think this sums up our current society.

I have to some extent removed myself from mainstream consumerism. First to go was the television in 2004! I don't buy a newspaper or magazines and I use adblocker on the net.

Try to avoid supermarkets as much as possible by using farm shops , local butchers and bakers.

Don't buy anything new if I can help it, by using ebay etc but I could really be a lot more thrifty if I put my mind to it.

Still I am staggered by what I see around me ...huge amount of waste and and endless desire for new goods.

Consumerism is simply convincing stupid people to spend their hard earned cash on a huge HD3D-A-SUPER-VISION 9000Hz Digital Enhanced TV! To watch mainly crap about how to make Instant! Easy Cash! from your antiques/house/Grannies Gold Teeth/Have an accident/Credit company and how to cook amazing meals while you sit there lonely with your beans on toast whilst other adverts fly up the screen to convince you to buy the *NEW IMPROVED* HDTV3D-A-SUPER-VISION 9001Hz Digital Enhanced TURBOMOTHER****ER II TV at only 750% APR!

Sadly, there are lots of stupid people who fall for it hook, line and sinker. :(

I agree, they are pretty irritating. I don't enjoy spending money, so usually am quite immune to advertising, but even then I still wish it would stop.

Don't forget that to get the best out of it you need the £499.99 HD3D-A-SUPER-VISION Digital Enhanced Cable, other £1.79 Digital Enhanced cables that are exactly the same but not HD3D-A-SUPER-VISION branded will not give good results!

"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your ****ing khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world."

Guessing you all posted from your eye phones too!

I am not "consuming" my iphone, which is the complaint here. I will use it until it is no longer fit for my needs, then I will sell it on and purchase something new. It is not "consumerism" to own nice things.

The OP mentions advertising, something that Apple are experts at hence my post.
